I am usually liberal on economic issues, but lets really think about this. The wealthy use the least amount of public services, yet we tax them more?

Is it right to tax people more just because they have more to give?

I know when there are tax breaks, they get the biggest break, but is that really reliable considering they have to wait for the break to come along.

It just seems like a really bad deal for rich people

Is there anyone out there that could come up with a legitimate reason as to why rich people should pay more taxes?

So, your alternative is to more heavily tax the middle class or the poor?? Or is it to cut services or run the national debt even higher than it now is?

Quite simply, the first rule of taxation is this: Make sure that the taxpayer can afford to pay the tax.

Yes, it is fair.

This country provides the opportunity for folks to get rich. It is only fair that they should give back in order to help those that have had less opportunities.

Most truly wealthy people pay taxes on capital gains only which is a 15% tax bracket. The middle class payes a higher percentage of their income than that. Plus the truly wealthy are able to hire tax lawyers and accountants to usually get their taxes less than that.

So yes it is fair that they pay. And it's just not me. Warren Buffet, one of the riches guys in the world says the same thing.

This is just my opinion but is it fair that the poor should give of what little they may have. The rich are rich. Those who are rich should give sincerely and genuinely. Its a virtue and part of being a great leader. Being rich means nothing unless you share it with others. A rich person has the power to make a difference. Everyone can make a difference but when you have the money things are much easier. If what you have is more than enough then you should always give something to those who have less, because it makes what you have more meaningful.

I think all people should be taxed equally. 15% of your net income. You make $30,000, you pay $4500. You make $1,000,000. you pay $150,000. No breaks. Plus a luxury tax for " Look at what I've got" , Bull sh-t items.
