that is one tough, he probably needs to apply for a student visa, who knows. I feel bad for him because he was brought here by his parents as a child and he had no choice. I love to read responses about how evil the child is as if the child had had a choice.
he really and truly needs to go to an immgration atty. they usually give free consutations on the first visit and take it from there.
I wish some of the nasty respondents were parents and their child was taken to another country, and told figure out your status.

I think you fabricated this situation but in case you didn't and he is indeed Harvard material (i.e. his SAT's and community service record are top notch) there are lots of high level people in his home country that will help him apply as a citizen of his country once he's there. If accepted, the same people will help him obtain a student visa. Harvard likes foreign students especially in their graduate schools.. The way you suggest could result in a scholarship at the nearest ICE detention center while he awaits deportation..

Everyone wants to go to Harvard college. Your friend should get priority, why?

The Dream Act may be brought up separately. We don't know yet.

thequeenreigns - ah, but here 'their child wasn't taken to another country', THEY took them, wanting us to fund the child's better education, which we did, up to this point, at the expense of our own children.

As a going forward policy I am adamantly against the Dream Act. For kids under 25 brought here under 13, who have never been in a gang and are not twice illegal, I'd be ok with it if they have conclusive records they were already here for 3 years. Immunizations from a hospital and school transcripts are the sort of records I have in mind.

I hope he full fill his dreams and if you are truly his friend you would wish the same, and yes everybody wants to go to Harvard but not everybody is that smart or dedicated, yes he should go and see an immigration lawyer, he might be able to become legal and help his family to do it too. Good luck to your friend!! :)

Even some of the most ignorant immigrants found a way to be here legally.

I am getting tired of these stupid hypothetical questions designed (very poorly designed) to create debate and push people's buttons.

Get a life!

He can get a permit to study at Harvard and he will be able to get a ss card. He needs to start asking the right people. Start with a counselor at your school.

if he is a illegal immigrant then he isn't qualified for scholarships. he should instead return to his birth country or seek to pay his own way here.

he has a whole lot of nerve even TRYING to surreptitiously
obtain money reserved for CITIZENS of this country.
if he attempts that phony ssn number aka identy fraud...he will and should expect to be tossed in jail and THEN deported...
