I was at the zoo recently and a man was taunting some of the animals. It just didn't seem right, but I don't know if it was a sin?

I don't follow a Christian perspective but I was raised with one. I don't think the bible specifically would call this a sin. So I guess the direct answer to this question would be if you take the bible only at what it says directly than no. However, my personal belief is that when you treat any creature with disrespect you are commiting "sin". If God created all there is and we are so callous to treat it with disrespect and cruelty than we are treating the creator with the same disrespect and cruelty. And that is a "sin".
Either way I believe that what you send out comes back to you times 3. It's called Karma and this man will recieve it back.
You have to feel sorry for someone like this because he was only picking on the animals to make himself feel better. What a sad life with so little energy and love he must have to have the need to pick on poor defenseless animals.

Yes. That is not exactly what I would call suffering the meek. The phrase does not just refer to tolerance, but also to not taking advantage of a superior situation. Those are creatures created by God and they merit the respect due all of God's creations. They are also intellectually and - in most cases - physically inferior to us,what to speak of the fact that in this example they are helplessly trapped in cages and cannot avoid a tormentor. It is very sinful in the eyes of the Church. We look to St. Francis for guidance on any matter pertaining to the less capable life forms. Of course he represents an ideal - but as they say, while no ideal can be achieved we only better our nature by striving for it,irregardless of it's unattainability.

Well I wouldn't exactly call it a sin.... but it does show that the man taunting the animals to be one step below the animals he was taunting.

Well first of all they are caged so that is bad enough. Secondly, It shows no love or respect for fellow creations of God the creator. But in all, sin or not it just shows that humankind is just as much an animal as the one in the cage.

It's not right. I have no respect for anyone who is cruel to animals. I think it's a sin, so my answer is yes.
Only a mean and/or immature person would do such a thing.

I suspect it's always a sin to pick on those that can't defend themselves. And sin or not, it certainly is a character statement.

It's all good clean fun, until an angry grizzly bear rips your kidneys out..then it's not so funny...I mean yeah,a little bit...but not like a deep belly laugh funny.

Seriously...I love animals.. and am very much opposed to any cruelty to them.

Something doesn't have to be labeled a 'sin' to be just plain wrong.
