I live in Korea and 2 days ago I got a 10 week old kitten. As expected, she has been hiding under a bed. However, she has also been crying constantly (and loudly). I believe she has eaten a little bit of food, but not much. I tried to give her more food as well. She is still crying. I have never had a kitten do this. Even if she is missing her family, this seems odd. I don't think I can take her to a vet for another day or so. Suggestions?

She might be hungry. Are you feeding her what she was eating before? She is still very young. Can you get some baby food meat at the grocery store - jarred chicken or turkey. You MUST read the label and see that it contains no ONION or garlic. That will be easy on her tummy and good for about two days. Then she must have some cat food because there will be taurine in that which she must have.

If you can't get baby food, put some ground chicken or turkey in a processor so you can make a "paste" of it. If you can moisten it with kitten replacer milk (NOT cow's milk) or a little filtered water to get a mushy consistency. That's OK for a couple of days too and then you need to move to canned cat food.

Kittens cry often, especailly when they are recently seperated from their litter mates, and very loudly at that haha. My mothers kitten is about 16 weeks old right now and she still cries although id call it screeching. Shes just upset and 2 days isnt very long for her to get used to her surroundings. It will take most likely a couple of weeks for her to be fully adjusted and she should calm down,. however you could just have a vocal kitty. My 9 month old is constantly mewoing or chirrping or making some kind of sounds for attention. Dont worry your kitten will be fine, Ive dealt with lots of kittens, just make sure you pay attention to how much she is eating and drinking and if the amount doesnt increase within a couple more days Id say a trip to the vet just to see if its anything medical would be a good idea. Kittens take time to adjust just like people. Good luck!

It sounds like she is scared of her new surroundings. Keep providing food and water for her under or near the bed. Also, a litter box or newspaper nearby for her to use.

Perhaps, you could try to play with her. Kittens do love to play and if you give her something to keep her mind off her fear, you might have success. A toy on a long string would work; move it around under the bed and see if it works.

Otherwise, just make sure she is comfortable under the bed: no loud, scary noises or other animals bothering her until she gets comfortable in her new surroundings. Good luck!

Give her another day: it usually takes cats about 3 days to start adjusting to new surroundings.

You might try giving her something soft and fluffy to lay on, and wrapping a hot-water bottle in a towel so it will feel a little bit like Momma.

If she is still crying tomorrow, or if she seems to be in pain or have swelling in the hollow of her hips, then make an appointment with the vet.

Good luck!

You only got her two days ago and she hasn't adjusted to her new environment yet. Just keep her in one room with the door closed for a while so that she can get used to it. After a couple of weeks open the door and let her explore the other areas of your place.
Go into her room often so that she will bond with you.
Good luck, she will be fine, just give her some time.

You should take her back to her mother. Some kittens mature more slowly than others. Take her back and give her more time, then you can take her home. It was much too soon to take her from her mother.
