How long does it take to get this started once the W-5 s turned in to employer?

Should be the next pay period.
I do payroll and I know many software programs don't handle it well but they should do it right away if they can if not they may have to run your payroll by hand and deal with the paperwork. If you company is set up to handle it with one pay period for sure.
