Mom will probably get bored with this fad soon enough. My new wife (aged 50 years young) has just created a facebook also and although I am not that in favour of it know in my heart that it will pass eventually. Facebook was created for all ages but reality is that is more use and value to youth. If you are actually that uncomfortable with it talk it over with your mom and listen to her reason for being on there, and keep an open mind as she explains. Then give her your reasons for not supporting her use of this site.

Good grief...
I have a facebook, a myspace page and a 360 account... and so do my kids... What's wrong with your mom having these things? She is prolly smarter than you think she is, has developed another profile that is most likely in your friends list and is keeping tabs on what you do/say..
Just because she is your Mom she should sit in a rocking chair with a knitting needle?

What is so creepy about it? Do you think that just because she is your mother that she shouldn't be able to have something like that? Maybe she just wants to meet other people. Why do young people have facebooks? Age shouldn't be an issue. Get over it!!!

Whats wrong and creepy about it?
Is it the fact she has weird, criminal, sick or perverted stuff on it? Or just cos she is your mum and parents shouln't be 'cool' and do the same stuff as their kids?
Is the problem really YOU, being too sensitive?

lol!! LOL!! Why don't you want your mom to have a facebook??!! LOL!! If you really don't want her to have a facebook, put it to her gently and politely. But in the end, I'm sure that she will decide for herself, no matter what you say. :D

Don't tell her yourself. Let facebook do your dirty work. Flag her profile and facebook will explain to her the rules when they delete her profile.
