Doing it straight is the best. My dance teacher does not break sit-ups into sections because she says that they don't allow your stomach to get used to the burn and you will never force your self to the point where you are really working your abs because if you do them in sections, you allow the abs to cool off, but when in continuous motion, your abs stayed fired and you have to push through the pain therefore, it's better. I know I wrote a lot, but I hope that helped. :D

Recent Studies have shown that if muscle gain is your goal, neither will be more beneficial than the other, assuming you can do 100 pushups straight and that all other variables remain stagnant between the 2 options. Muscle gain is achieved by overworking the muscles period. 10x100=1000 or (10x25)4=1000. its all the same. However, doing 100 straight will keep your heart rate up in a prolonged aerobic state helping you to burn more calories and fat at the same time as building strength and muscle size.

I don't think it would make that big of a difference. For me, personally, after doing like 70 or so pushups, I start to lose my form. Good form makes workouts more effective, so I would suggest doing sets to ensure your muscles rest, and therefore you have good form throughout hte entire workout.

I've read that its best to do them in sets of decreasing number. If 100 is to be the total, then do:
40, rest, 30, rest, 20, rest, 10, finished.

it depends on what you goal is, endurance or strenght. doing 100 straight pushups is better if you are interested in having better upper body endurance. but if you want to grow bigger muscles in the arms and chest, go lower reps and increase the weight, by putting your feet on a chair, or by doing bench presses with weights.

it wouldnt matter really. i think doing it in sets is more beneficial, it gives your muscles time to relax.
