All we know is that she is part Lab. We guessed she may be part Chow because her tongue is partly black/blue, or maybe husky because her fur is thicker at her neck and she has a tail that curves upward when excited. Her tail has a mix of white and silver 3 inch hairs along with the black coat. By the way, she has never needed or had a trim and her fur is way softer than a Lab's.

I have to say, I was really impressed with the turnout!!!

Thank you everyone for answering, and I appreciate the kind things you've said. However, I can't choose out of all the good answers, so I think I will put it up to vote.

Yep - she looks like a Chow mix to me, looks like it may have been grandparents though - 1/2 mixes are more distinctively Chow than this. The blue black tongue is a very good indication of the Chow blood, those long legs though - who knows? Lab is probably a good guess as for the tail curl that tail shows up in Chows as well.
She looks like a pretty cute dog whatever she is.

She looks like a Labrador crossed with an Australian Shepherd. The small button ears give it away -- very much Aussie like. The coat is similar to an Aussie's too. She also has a face shaped like an aussie. Chows are very short thick dogs, with much more coat. If she were a chow cross she'd be thicker in body. Husky cross is possible, but unlikely, since most husky have a lot of white, and it would have been passed down to the pups.

She looks like she may have some retriever in her. My dog is lab with retriever and although her fur is longer she also has the tuft of fur around her neck. She is a Black Lab/Golden Retriever mix and was born on a farm. Your dog has the same facial structure as my dog and is almost her twin except for the fur. Kylies, my dog, tail curves upward too. Plus she has the same long hairs on her tail as yours. If there is chow in your dog the tail may curl upward to touch her back. As it would with a chow or husky. I don't see any husky features in her, but the lab definitely shows clear. Which shows her mother was Lab. As for the sire, I would guess he was some kind of retriever.

Lab/Chow was my first thought. But know that black tongues or black spot on tongues are not just synonymous with chows. Alot of Shepard mixes have them too. I have a german shep golden mix with spots all over her tongue.
Also on her back legs there is a set of "pants" or "feathers" Labs and chows can have those, but they usually arent that long, where as shepards do grow those.
To go against the grain I would say shep mix.
Shes super cute!!!!

Lab/chow sounds about right. The lab is pretty evident and the chow fits with the tongue coloration, thicker coat, curving tail, and ear shape aspects of the breed.

She very pretty, she looks like a blk lab/ shepard mix. With the spotted tongue doesn't mean she is a chow all most all mix breed dogs have it. Its really tough to tell what she is, well what any mix breed dogs are. If you really wanted to know you could do a blood test (yes they do have them). But you know what she is beautiful and healthy so what does it matter.

Could very well be chow, as chows come in smooth coat also. Another breed that has a black tongue is a shar-pei, but I think her head is too narrow for that. Thre might be a mixed breed parent crossed with the lab. As long as you love her, it doesn't matter. :-)

She is definitely part black lab. The purple tongue makes her sound like she is part chow. My mom used to have a black lab/chow mix who looked just like your dog.

That's a very pretty dog you have there!
I think a husky/labrador mix would have longer fur. She looks like an Aussidor (Labrador/Australian Shepherd hybrid) to me.

Especially in her ears and her tail. You should check out this website and see if you can identify her from among the pics/descriptions of these mixed breed dogs.

After all, you know your own dog far better than any of us ever could.

Black tongue is the signature of a Chow. She probably has a few different breeds in her. Mutts are the best!!
