I really want a professional HD camera (the big one) but I only want to spend $1000. Is there anything that I can get? On eBay? Or some special site?

Sorry, but no. Any professional HD camcorder will run you a MINIMUM of $3,000. The only way you could get HD for $1000 is if you get a consumer camcorder. Even if you want just a SD professional camera, those start at around $1800. However Panasonic makes a consumer SD camera that has 3ccd's for around $450. In case you don't know 3ccds are what make "Professional" camera professional. They give a much better color and picture quality. I would highly recommend something like Panasonic's PV-GS320 (see link below) or if you have to have HD and would buy a consumer HD camcorder, Canon's HV20. However if you would be willing to buy used the gl1 or the xl1 off of ebay would be a good bet for a prosumer camcorder, even though it is used.

there are pro cameras in this price range that will shoot 16:9 wide at SD. this way you will have wide screen to xfer to DVD and still be compatible with standard computer and other video gear. it is not bad as miniDV actually has 720 horzontal pixels to work with on the recording.

with true HD you will need upgrade your computer gear and buy other expensive equipment to view it. The less expensive HD camcorders actually up-convert the CCD resolution, so infact it is only about 25% better than miniDV SD.

look for a JVC JY-VS2000 on ebay. it is professional model camera with 16:9 capability.
