Biblical submission is good. The Bible tells us to submit to those in authority over us, that includes government officials, police, etc, school principles for students, husbands for wives, and pastors and elders for Christians.

It truly is liverating when we do submit, because (for example) my husband will make an account to God for every choice or decision he made that influenced my life. Likewise, teachers will account for everything they taught, etc...

It makes it easier to submit to fallible humans, because even tho they may make mistakes, God doesn't, and He still covers us!

What people sometimes fail to consider is that our government officials will answer for everything they lead us (our country) into or out of. But those who do not submit, will be treated harshly.

The opposite of submission is rebellion. The Bible tells us that rebellion is as of the sin of witchcraft! I sure don't want to go there! Do you?

I hate to inform the PC liberals but life will always have laws and rules to obey.No matter who you are there will be people, governments (nations),etc to submit to.A job has boss(es).CEOs have stock holders and company boards to impress.Congress and some presidents forget they have bosses called voters (until the next election). The church is so broken and splintered into so many different degrees of biblical leadership and teaching.People should find a church that follows the scripture and has a minister that realizes Jesus is the head of the church not him.Yes,every person is to follow leaders (and pray for them).A pastor will be accountable to God.The bible OT and NT both teach the husband is to be the head of family (I just made an extremely highly PC incorrect statement).Has families become stronger, better, longer lasting since everyone in the family is free from having any oppressive leadership? What would a military be like if no one was allowed to be a leader (great?).
Parents are suppose to be one man and one woman (same sexes can't procreate).Parents are suppose to pray and seek God's leadership.Does these ideas seem radical and strange (they were understood for thousands of years).

Submission that is practiced and understood properly is not oppressive, but rather liberating. Biblical submission is a tool that is used in reverence, honor and as a covering..and should always be practiced as unto the Lord. It is pleasing to God when a person submits to the governing authorities that he has sovereignly placed over them or when a woman submits to her husband's loving care as head of the household...(again as unto the Lord). We as Christians also should be in submission, one to another and should be teachable as we honor others as better than ourselves.

Submission is not synonomous with Dictatorship...and should only be practiced by people who understand the spiritual reasoning and implications for doing so.

I see some other very good answers here,as well.

Our agency to choose is precious. I would not choose to submit myself to someone without an assurance that that person were perfect, all-knowing, and all-powerful, and that he loved me and only wanted the best for me--someone like God.

The problem is knowing who speaks for God. I don't want to follow just anyone who may be a false prophet. It is the nature of people to be oppressive.

I submit to traffic laws, even when I think they're pretty stupid, like stopping for a stop sign in the middle of the night when I know there is no other traffic.

I often submit to my wife, even though I secretly may disagree. It makes life happier. She probably submits to me for the same reason.

Keep your eyes wide open, choose whom to follow, and maintain your right to choose. It's not blind submission if, after sober thought, you choose to submit.

The one we submit to it God, and when we are in full submission to Him, then the other things work out. We are called to be submissive to our husbands, but not in the way most men try to sell it to ya. The man is to treat you like God treats Him, and to see you as a gift from God, making you His equal, and only living to take care of you and love you and respect you. And, when he does that, any Christian woman will submit in the ways God says to. We arent to submit to our husbands if he tells us something tht runs contrary to Gods word. Nor are we to submit to abuse of any kind or disrespect. we are children of the living God and He wants us to love , give love, etc. we are equal in His eyes and we must be that to each other. Sometimes we will have to have a bit of submission to a boss. He is boss and we must follow the rules. But, if he is unfair, and against the teachings of Jesus, we must alway stand our ground and be in Christ. Usually when a boss knows you will only allow respect, theyw ill give it even if they dont give it to anyone else. YEP> amen But, if it doesnt happen, you arent to take abuse, Get another job. God doesnt require we be doormats to anyone. not ever.
WE must over and over turn the other cheek for forgiveness. and we must love them, forgive them, and pray for them and not give up. But, we arent to stand and get slapped over and over again, be it emotinal or physical... God wants us to keep the love, joy and Peace He so willingly sends, and we arent to turn that over to anyone.
But, God requires we are fully submissive to Him, cuz when we bring in SELF , we tend to mess things up.
God bless you for your question. Miss your old avatar tho.... Oh yes, on oppression. When we submit to others in a wrong way, that is oppression and of the devil and God says NO to that. Submit to Jesus and we have it made. Know Him and He will show us how to live in the world with all the difficult ppl that do want to oppress. No way once you are fully in Jesus Chrsit. amen

Submit to God, Gods Word & Love.

Resist satan & satan flees. Satan is the most oppressive, & so when satan flees this is most liberating.
