I've never met her so I am clueless as to what would be appropiate to write; I don't want to sound like I'm kissing up to her.

Just kidding, but just don't overthink. Just write like 'Happy birthday and many wishes of health for the upcoming year' or some variation of it. No need to write an essay, just a simple 'happy birthday and hope many more come your way.'

Just give her a simple greeting. Like happy birthday and her name. Hope all ur wishes and dreams come true and that's it. You never really met her so you shouldn't write more. Yea you don't want to sound too much like your kissing @ss, but once in a while kissing up to her is fine. I think they like that.

It's OK to kiss up to your mother you have never met, unless there is a reason you shouldn't. You could write that you wish she had been in your life in the beginning. And how you miss that. Most of all you love her anyway, if no more than giving you life. And as always you love her through it all I feel that you do.

Keep it simple. Just wish her a very happy birthday. Maybe let her know that you look forward to meeting her. I'm sure just the fact you sent her a card would make her happy enough.

umm...well i think i'd write a nice hello, and how you would be happy to meet her and hope that she has a nice birthday and a great year...nothing too "suck up" ish, like you said, just a quick birthday wish, until you really get to know her. She 'll appreciate it:)

Obviously do not address her as "MOM" or mother-in-law. Just keep it simple as if you were addressing it to a neighbor down the block. Ex. Write at the top of the card "Mrs. xxxx" and sign it something like "Happy Birthday" and simply sign your name....don't put Love, xxxx As far as the card itself just pick out a general birthday card.

tell her to have a good day, and to have fun on her special day., and if you use my answer, (pardon my language) but don't be a kiss-***, exactly as you said, try to get her a funny card. but not too funny, not at all offensive.
