The US passport system has a backlog reminiscent of Soviet bread lines.

Right now there is quite a backlog. Give it at least two months. a renewal should go a bit faster than a new application, but with new travel restrictions there has been a huge surge in passport applications.

If you pay for the "quick service" it takes the longest two weeks. But if you pay for the regular service it took me and my friends 12 to 14 weeks.

i paid extra to get mine in two days. It took three.
