Must say that everyone is responsible for him/herself. If you use anything, without looking for the reasons it has been created for, you will maybe not be able to taste the Good that there is inside of it. You are going to use anything which is adverstised by the marketing-business-people, in a superficial way, like a robot which follows the suggestions of its lord. Japan has a great and ancient Culture. Everything has a special place in It. For sure, this "anime" is very well contextualized there and no one get droven out of the Right track for it. But in America, maybe, there is not a so deep and ancient Culture, and Americans live in a "use and throw away" one. The problem is not "anime": is that people is not self-responsible, is that people are superficials, that people do not go and look for the roots of what they are using .... INNER PEACE/HAPPINESS to everyone, everywhere, at any time.

Americans have defended this concept of freedom and taken it to ridiculous extremes. Freedom of speech is responsible for so much crap out there. The values have changed, what was once unacceptable and unthinkable has now become fad and hip and cool. Rebelling against anything that is orderly, esthetically pleasing and in good taste seems to be in. Good manners are passe. Our icons are rich spoiled people unable to control either themselves or their lives. Being competitive has led parents to take full time jobs and leave their kids alone, unsupervised and unattended for years, until they turn 18, and then they are really in a hurry to get rid of them.
Anime is just one of the many little pickaxes picking away at the foundations of America itself.

Pfft. Anime rocks. And I hate to tell you it's been around for years and years.... there's nothing wrong with anime. I think you might be thinking of hentai anime. Pokemon, although it may come from Japan, is just a kids show, and doesn't fall into the category of anime. Akira, or Ghost in The Shell - THAT'S anime.
Good stuff!

Moral decay has been on an upward spiral since Adam.
Since all corners of the earth are now inhabited and particularly since the beginning of the industrial age along with worldwide communication, travel and technology, the inevitability of moral decay was expected to rise to extremes. History attests to it.
All things have contributed to moral decay.

I agree one-hundred percent! What happened to the good old days when the youth of America stole copies of their father's Hustler & Playboy magazines, the way God intended for it to be? These days, all that the youth of America are interested in is anime: games featuring anime, rock groups (Such as Gorillaz) featuring anime, cartoons using all anime characters, etc. It's just sick and I want a stop put to it!
Keep up the good fight, sister!

I don't think it's quite that simple. I say it's poor parenting, and a lack of willingness to discipline children properly. Part of that discipline includes governing what your kids can and cannot watch on that idiot box. Many parents today allow their kids to see the most horrendous things on TV, namely violence, and indifference to empathy. When I was a kid, my mother was VERY strict about what I could and couldn't watch. I remember when I first saw MOBY DICK. I'm glad my mom was with me, because that movie scared the daylights out of me. Same thing with A NIGHT TO REMEMBER. Luckily, she was there to "debrief" me as it were, and helped me to get my mind and emotions around what those movies showed. And don't even get me started on the video games that use the first-person shooter format. Today, too many parents allow their kids to see things even many adults shouldn't see, and that's where the moral decay really begins.

Oooookay, I feel like I'm in an anime episode for just answering this question!
Sure, let's blame the Japanese. Let's not even look at who's sitting in the White House, or what he's doing.

If you choose to believe this, it's OK with me. However, have examined the number of student enrollment in colleges and university's? I doubt it
People rarely seek data that questions the accuracy of their contention. I choose to seek data from many sources to give me an accurate concept of the dynamic.

You think that anime is solely responsible for the moral decay of the USA? Wow. I don't think that any ONE thing can be blamed.
