If you have visited Korea or have lived there, what was your purpose for it? Did you have a good time? If so, how did you enjoy your stay there? Were you able to learn something about Korean culture?
(The last time I went was in the summer of 2000 for one of my uncle's wedding..)

i wanted to go to south korea out of interest. my dad was living in a small city 1 hour north of seoul so i thought it would be a good opportunity for me to go for a couple of weeks. i loved korea. i was happy b/c he did live in a smaller city so i was able to break away from some of the touristy things. it was an interesting country and i look forward to returning again sometime in the future.

Same here.
I went because of a man.
But I don't love him anymore, so probably I won't go again. I'll feel sad.
What I learned was that Korean culture is much different than Japanese, whatever they say-the architecture of the castles, paintings on the shrines, the structure of the tombs. I learned also that Korea and my country are alike in many aspects, although too far and too different cultures.
I visited some historical sites and an amusement park nearby, went shopping and my favorite- people watching. But when you don't speak the language you feel quite lonely.

I planned on coming to Korea for three main reasons. First, I wanted to travel. Second, there are a ton of jobs teaching English here. Third, it is easy to save a lot of money.

Also, I did learn some basic Korean back in university. I practice it sometimes with Koreans. Although my knowledge has increased, I don't think I am at the level I should be.

I guess I need to practice more.

Inspiration Amor: North Korea is communist, no longer South Korea. Get your tips instantly. Thanks :) South Korea is doing very good of their economic climate and their style of presidency is a republic. North Korea is administered by way of a dictator named Kim Jong Il, so I might say South Korea is the higher Korea. Definitely.

I taught English in Korea for a year in 2004.

I was interested in Korean culture. I had a great time! I learned a lot about the culture and I made a lot of wonderful friends. I really miss it there!

I went there becuase I've always wanted to go. I got miles so my ticket was about $47 from San Diego to Seoul. I met a cool person that showed me around Seoul, Suwan, and Daegu. I had a great time.

I went there for a summer in 1999 as a foreign exchange student in high school. I loved it, but I made sure to get out and see everything as much as possible because I knew I wouldn't be there long. it's really what you make of it I think; if you expect yourself to get off the plane and have everything handed to you in english, you are sadly mistaken (like another one of those answerers...)... it's destined to turn out bad. korea's a great place and I can't wait to visit again =)
