Ive got an Epson Perfection 610 flatbed scanner, an old Packard Bell computer, and Windows '98 2nd edition - help me PLEASE before I throw it all out of my window!!

Be sure that you have installed the driver for your Flatbed Scanner. Without this driver, your computer will be unable to speak the "Scanner Language".

Also be sure that you have power to the scanner.

P.S. Thank you for your computer information! It makes it a-lot easier to answer when one knows what OS is being run and what scanner is being used.

Do you have any other USB devices? Older PCs can have power issues on the ports. If something else is pulling too many mA then other devices won't be seen. Broadband modems are often a culprit.
