Loss of appetite for cats can be pretty serious. It can be due to something as little as stress to something as serious and potentially life-threatening such as feline leukemia and kidney disease. Read the link in the source box for further reading on reasons a cat would have loss of appetite. Be sure to bring this up to the vet when you take him in for his deworming. Don't get too worried, though, it is possible for cats to lose appetite if they have worms as well.

Here are some additional symptoms if your cat has worms:
Loss of appetite

The cat's coat is in poor condition

The cat has a pot belly appearance - especially in kittens

The cat or kitten suffers weight loss

Stunted growth of a kitten

Diarrhea (sometimes bloody diarrhea)

Vomiting or vomiting up a worm.

Anemia - The cat or kitten has pale gums

Worm segments around the anal area. These segments look like small grains of rice or sesame seeds.

Continual licking of the anal area

Just be sure to bring up this symptom to the vet and let him figure things out. I hope everything will be OK with your kitty!

I would suggest you pop your cat down to the vet who will prescribe a combination worming tablet for both tape worm and round worm and and give him the once over. Also you should always treat a cat who has worms for fleas as well. This is because there is a flea/worm life cycle.

Good Luck

You should deworm him, but usually worms don't stop them from eating. It's better to go to the vet for a general check-up, combine it with the worming. Go to the vet ASAP, because there are many dangerous conditions that cause lack of appetite and need urgent treatment. I hope your cat is just feeling warm because of the weather. Does he drink and more importantly does he pee OK? If he doesn't pee, go to the vet within minutes.

Usually cats are more hungry when they have worms, so it might be worth worming him and taking him to the vets for a check up anyway to see if something else is amiss.

Never give them food with worms.
The worms will put them off.
