a very good thing...i am an avid hunter/fisherman, i eat what i take, im not irresponsible, and i dont do it just to go out there and watch something die and get kicks out of it. a lot of men/women rely on hunting wild game because they may not be able to afford it, and many people want "all natural" products so they know what they are getting, rather than purchasing processed foods where you have no idea what you're getting. besides, we control, for example, deer population so that cars dont have to...not to mention make sure there is enough food sources for them throughout the winter in ratio to the deer population. hunters and fishermen do a lot to protect the environment. many people donate/invest much of their time and money. also, we help out a lot of towns during the deer season that rely on us staying at hotels, eating dinners at diners, etc etc. whats so bad about that? dont let peta activists and vegitarians sway how you feel about it. i dont judge them, and they have no right to judge me. im not a bad person for taking game as a food source. plus, its just nice getting away for a weekend to have some fun with the guys and drink some beer :P

You are obviously a "sportsman", and not out there totally consumedwith 'killing'something....too bad there arent more like you out there....the sport would certinly bennifit if there were.
The offenciveness i feel is toward those who kill for the thril of killing.
The admiration i feel is for those whos motives, and reasoning, and logic, and YES>>EGO's, ..are rationally harmonious with natures cause'a and effect'a in environments and ecosystems.
I agree with you..hunting is a good thing. I love to hunt. Have hunted all my life. I admit that i have killed for the thrill of it..killed way to often for the thrill...I have regreats these days, about that.
It is as much a pleasure to succede in a stalk, or a track down, or locateing, or prediction of animal behavior for me as it ever was to take the life from what I hunted.
The skills i learned persueing different animals in different habbitats and terrains and environments have remained contemporary, it was my attitude that changed.
I would still kill if i were hungry, or my survival depended on doing so...I have tose skills, and could, if i chose.
Those same skills apply well to nearly every thing else,..life's a dementional unfolding of perceptions,..
It isnt the 'sportsman' that is problematical...nature can deal with them. It is the commersialization of nature that has and continues to impact natures bountys.

I think it's a good think as long as it's being regulated so that the animal isn't over-hunted. I'm a vegetarian, but if I were to eat some meat I would choose meat that lived a full life in the wild, not on a factory farm. It also helps with overpopulation.

I think if you are hunting and using the kills for food that it is okay. I'll never believe that it's okay to hunt just for the joy of the kill, for a trophy on the wall, or irresponsibly. No animal deserves to be killed without a purpose, or left injured and in pain to die.

I think anyone who isn't a vegetarian must consider this question carefully -- as that bacon and eggs didn't come to our plates without a price!

A lot of good points have been covered, but there is also the economical aspect, about 90% of money for wildlife conservation (non-game and wild lands as well as game) comes from fees and special taxes paid by hunters and fishermen.

A Good Thing. Hunters have incentive to protect the environment his/her prey lives in. Hunters, whether animal OR human also serve to strengthen the stock of the prey animal. Humans have EVERY right to engage in the same activities that every other creature on the earth engages in! If you think about it, even herbivores 'hunt' their favorite plants.

As long as you are hunting legal game that the state selects as part of their population control strategy AND that you are eating what you catch (or donating to someone who is), I have no problem with hunting. It's just part of nature for one species to hunt another for food. To think otherwise is pretty naive.

Why do people have a problem with harvesting animals, but think its ok to go to the grocery store and buy hormone and chemical laden beef that somebody else bludgeoned to death? Hunting is in our blood.

hunting is a good management tool for wildlife and hunters put a lot of money in to the local economy

Hunting isn't a sport. Neither should it be regulated by anyone, especially government. Hunting is something you do to survive, it isn't something, someone who asks the above kind of question, does. Just because you eat what you kill doesn't mean you are hunting.
