When a person asks a question like 'what is your religion?' and all the people answer saying what religion they are, do you give them thumbs down?? If so, why?? Is it coz they are of a different religion than you? Or coz you don't like their religion? What's the reason? Please be honest, I know there are alot of people here who do this, whenever there's a question like that there are also many thumbs down.

Jaicee - I know that I get thumbs down coz of my beliefs, but I think it's kinda silly, after all we are all free to believe in whatever we want.

Lavender, I've seen lots of your responses get a thumbs down, I assume, simply because you quote Islamic scripture or give the Muslim point of view. On the other hand, I can't tell how many have read them then merely moved on to the next one. Keep those in mind.
You are so right. It's silly, inane, narrow-minded. Stay positive. Many read without thumbs either way. Isn't that what you really want? If people set their screen to show all answers, they only collapse on their own screen when they click thumbs down, not the screens of others.

All people are free to believe and practice any way they wish. That is the great thing about free will and choice, you have the power to decide. My belief tells me that Christianity is the way to heaven. Religion isn't. Religion is really overrated. Put the trust in your beliefs, not a religion or a cult. As for thumbs down, I rarely give them. The only way I would is if someone said something so outrageous or despicable that it goes entirely against not only my beliefs, but, the good of mankind and offends almost everyone. Thanks for the question and have a great day!!

I don't thumbs down in this case at all. I mean if we are rating the answer I think it's rather stupid to give a thumbs down for someones religion or belief.

I always get thumbs down when I say I'm an atheist. On those types of questions, I don't give any type of thumbs to anybody.

I have received thumbs down for giving correct answers to math problems. Here in R&S sometimes when you give a good correct answer, you have to consider a thumbs down a plus. Your answer can be so full of truth that they have to jump on you like they jumped on Stephen.

When I give a thumb's down it's usually because :
- a participant is extraordinarily sexist, racist, bigoted, hainous, cruel, trolling or points' hunting, by his opinion or religious/sectarian sympathies.
- I want to collapse an extraordinarily lazy, long (more than one page) quote. I'm a pragmatist. Provide a link - don't quote an entire web page.
- my baloney detection kit detects... baloney, spam, or obvious "in your face" proselytism.
This said, I don't consider thumbs' downs as a form of disrespect for the individual — as a general rule, I think we have to respect the believers, but we don't have to respect their beliefs.
Brutal honesty can hurt, but dishonesty and fallacies can be murderous.
