---...[QUALIFIER: I am agnostic.]...---
Yes, at times I do find those types of 'answer-filtering' questions quite tedious,...
-but I would gladly accept ALL of them...
... in exchange for getting rid of that elevation of tedium brought on by 'flat-lined brainwave' questions, some of which having been playfully labelled as 'drinking' questions:
>Proof there is/is not a God?
>Can God [insert ridiculous action here]?
>Why are Christians [atheists] so stupid [mean]?
>"I just [insert idiotic scenario here]! What should I do?"
-etc,...
...not to mention the now hum-drum, garden-variety questions which refer to...
>The Flying Spaghetti Monster,...
>The Invisible Pink Unicorn,...
...and other parodies based on Russell's 'teapot' argument.
However,... I am not at all deluded into believing that this thing we call Y!A R&S will be ever be anything more than what it already is:
---A giant, gear-grinding Q&A rotisserie, - laden with mind-numbing drivel that, for the most part, would not even challenge the IQ of an earthworm.---
But, then again, what more does one expect from a FREE Q&A website?...;-)
So,... that said:
Please raise your glasses and join me in a toast;
... to Y!A R&S, --- and 'Pascal's Wager'!
---[..."Skol!"...*clink*]---...:-))

LOL, I actually fit all the requirements!
I have brown eyes, am right-handed, very liberal and I have 2 dogs and a cat! :)
And no, I don't think the specific questions are such a bad thing (unless they're the christians/atheist war ones that are just there to provoke).
I like to answer the questions of the "pagans only" type, where people want to know some specific information, or differences between diverse beliefs... or stuff like that. In that case, it would be quite pointless if a hindu or muslim or christian answered those, don't you think so?

OMG OMG that's me! I'm brown-eyed, I'm right-handed, I own three turtles and I'm a liberal! WOO!!!
But actually no, I don't mind it at all. Sometimes I'm only interesting in learning about the Christian perspective, so while it's "ok" for others to respond, I really am looking for a particular perspective that only a practicing or ex- Christian can provide. And yes, sometimes I want to know from atheists, sometimes conservatives, sometimes everyone, etc.
You're right, this is a general section.... but there's nothing to say that we can't ask about specific perspectives from specific groups every so often. There's also nothing to say that those who do NOT fit into the specified criteria can't respond if they feel they have something relevant to contribute.

Guess I'm the odd man out, as it really doesn't bother me. I will also fess up that I frequently use that technique. People I've excluded are certainly free to respond, but some questions I'd prefer a theist perspective and others a non-theist. Doesn't it make some sense to target your audience rather than doing a shotgun approach? e.g. why would I want to know atheists view of heaven and then have to weed through 10 responses telling me they're worm food before I get to a Christian whose opinion I was interested in.

Yes, they do annoy me, and it's not like it stops non-criteria-meeting people from answering the questions, I do it all the time.
I *am* a brown-eyed, right-handed, pet-owning liberal, though! Actually, I think this is the first time I've ever answered a "this type of person only" question and actually been that type of person...

No, not really.
When they are "Fellow Christians only" questions, I generally stay away from them, because they're just going to be self-congratulatory back-slapping, or moaning and griping sessions about everyone else or how persecuted they are or how right..
When they are religion-specific requests for *information*, I don't think it's a bad thing to ask for specific input. Getting a Four Square Gospel Christian's input on your Full Moon ritual is worse than useless.
On the other hand, sometimes I answer questions about Christianity or the Christian Bible, because I know a bit about it, being a PK and having read the thing from cover to cover a number of times.

As a matter of fact, I am a brown-eyed right-handed pet-owning liberal.
Specific questions dont bother me; sometimes you want the opinion of a specific group of people, instead of all possible answers.

No. I just wanted to see what the h*ll you had against brown eyed, right-handed pet-owning liberals.LOL!
It reminded of a test they did on students in California when I was a kid in school. Day1: blue-eyed students were dumb and brown-eyed students were smart.
Day 2: blue-eyed students were smart and brown-eyed students were dumb.
They really screwed us up as we were only in 2nd grade. I thought maybe you were the one that came up with that test. Ha!

Nah. I just ignore that exclusionary nonsense and answer the questions I want to answer. This is an open forum. If someone doesn't want answers from people with different opinions and lifestyles, then he or she can go post on a specialized bulletin board somewhere.
BTW, sorry to see that you lost your gay!
