It's the processed crap we eat today causing all of our health problems.

Most of the issue we have here is two fold. One is that we live in a fast society and thus, eat fast foods on the go all the time. The second one is the preservatives put into many of the foods. Pasteurization is not a problem, but most foods are sodium and other types of preservatives added.

The French drink lots of wine and such so, its hard to compare what makes them skinnier to Americans because they don't have a Micky D's on every corner, they don't have a Burger King and Taco Bell to deal with so, those could be factors.

Fresh veggies or frozen veggies have less preservatives in them than canned. Check out those options and above all, cut back on fast foods, which equates to fried foods

Pasteur was French! Pasteurization prevents diseases caused by harmful bacteria in human and animal feces.

Preservatives retard the growth of bacteria that cause food spoilage. Eating fresh food is best, but many cannot, so preservatives have a positive role to play.

Many Americans eat too much, eat a higher percentage of fat and other high caloric foods. Other lifestyle changes include lack of exercise. We walk less, ride more. Kids play inside and watch video games rather than play outside. The French are more disciplined in their eating habits. They tend not to engorge themselves.

A lot of attention and research is focused on "high fructose corn syrup" used nowadays in soft drinks and many other foods as a cheaper alternative to sugar. It may alter the way our bodies secrete insulin, regulate our blood sugar and effect satiety (the sense that we are no longer hungry).

I think you'll find that in France they pasteurize and preserve. So what exactly is your question?
