where did the "dumb blondie " idea come from....who started it...how long has it been going around...a lot of blondies on yahoo answers take real offence...esp if its a blondie joke...i am married to a blondie and she would be the first one to say 'ah here we go again'....she is a great person and very intelligent so she cant figure why redheads or any other haircolor dont have fun poked at them....a star for the most original answer.....im dreading some of the answers hahaha

I have no idea how it originated but it was certainly perpetuated by Marylin Monroe and other Blonde Bombshells who seem to have been the predecessors of todays Bimbos. I am blonde and my boss always refers to he and I as "The blind leading the blonde"!

The idea comes from when peroxide was used to bleach hair. Peroxide poisoning killed brain cells. Artificial blonds were known to be ditsy, like someone that has smoked way to much pot. It was not about true blonds.
Once the idea got started it just grew because the blonds are such good sports about it and it is fun.

Who actually cares? I'm blonde and loving it!! So what if we appear dumb. That just means that people are surprised when we do something intelligent and we get kudos for it. Helps boost my self esteem (which is low most of the time)!

You know you are so right. I personally don't know why people make fun of blondes only. I'm sure there's a lot of brunettes and black haired girls who are dumb too, me included. i think blonde jokes came from all the famous blondes who act so stupid, like they do not know how to do anything, from then i think people stereotyped blondes as dumb. i am a blonde and i am quite intelligent, i dont understand why blondes are picked on either
