The system is surround sound and has 5 speakers and a wolfer. We have a cable box that needs to be hooked up also. I have the speakers hooked to the back but still do not hear anything from them. Our cable box is Time Warner if that makes a difference. I need to know if I am hooking the red and white and yellow wires correctly if any one can help I would really apper. it. Thanxs Juuboo

your speakers can only be in surround sound if you have a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound reciever. hook your cable box and DVD player to the TV. And from the TV hook up the left and right audio output (red and white) to the reciever input.

Red and white audio cables are just stereo audio.
You need to connect a digital audio cable from the set-top to the receiver (cooax or optical -depending on both the set-top box and the TV)

Alternative, if you use just stereo input, see if your receiver has a setting for "Virtual surround" or something similar that emulates 5.1 sound from only two channels.
