I love my mom dearly. She's a great person. My little brother takes advantage of her kindness and runs over her. I used to give my mom money, in an effort to show her my love and also so she could buy herself something nice. Unfortunatly, my little brother would end up with something nice. He plays her and ends up taking my money away from her. So I stopped giving her money. I don't know what to buy her, cause she seems to have everything. I have been sending her emails, reminding her of how she has been such a positive influence on my life and to let her know that she's the best. My question is.....are the emails enough? Should I also try to buy her a gift? I don't want my brother to benefit. I love my brother dearly, as well. But my hard earned money is not meant to go to him.

Why is it you feel you owe her something ?
Once you give something to someone it's over.... They can then do whatever they want with it. Don't do anything for anyone if there's strings attached.

If you feel compelled to give your mother gifts, how about sending her to a day spa or sending her a gourmet food gift basket with her particular tastes in mind. Those are always appreciated by recipients and less likely to be passed on. She will always be a stooge when it comes to your brother but that does not mean this should take away from your efforts to give to her. I kind of feel sorry for your brother because he has not learned the joy of giving and doing for others but is instead fixated on taking.

Hon there are lots of Mom's out there who would be happy if their son emailed them a lot. You sound like a good son who loves his Mom. Take her out to dinner, give her gift certificates for her favorite salon, or a spa. flowers are always nice!! But the best for her and you are phone calls, vistis and those emails!!

Also you might try just telling your brother that this is for Mom not you !! Might not work but if he knows you will be watching out for that then it might keep him from taking from your Mom what she gives but should not have to.

You know I have been accused of the same thing not from one of my kids but from my husband. It's a mother thing!! We don't like to see our kids want for anything. We will give our kids our last dime if it would make them happy. I think that you just emailing your mother is fine. I still have a text message that my son sent me over 4 months ago saved on my phone It just saids " I Love you mom." I think that is the greatest thing because he took the time out of a busy day to send it. Keep emailing her she loves it.

No, you should QUIT trying to buy your mother's love.Sounds like your mom likes to make others happy and she uses the money on your little brother instead of herself to show this.Buy her something for her birthday and holidays.Give her a gift card and if she enjoys spending it on someone else, don't be angry at her for it.Take her out to dinner sometimes.

Just buy her something little and nice, like maybe a pair of earrings or a necklace. If she doesnt like those things, just maybe buy her a card and something she could use around the house. I hope this helps.

Wow.
That sounds like my situation, only I don't have a little brother but a little sister.
Well you mentioned that you never know what to get her because it seems she has everything.
Well instead of giving her money to show your appreciation, just continue to remind her of how wonderful she is, and how important she is to you.

You can't buy someones love with gifts. And gifts aren't always the best way to show someone you love them. Spending time with them, and doing things with them works much better.

LMFAO at the first poster. His name is "What should I do?", and he posts in questions with "What should I do?" and makes the same answer every time!
