Does anyone know what actual dedication to each other and what companionship means and what the difference of it is? Because my boyfriend told me this last night while aiming each other and I don't get what he meant when he said that since I need to know what companionship and actual dedication to each other means....sadly.

True dedication is taking the action for someone else besides yourself in a relationship. When you don't feel like going to the store for your boyfriend, for example. You have other plans, but because you love him, you will take the time out of your life to do this for him. When you are sick with the flu, needing help around the house, he will offer to do the dishes, wash the clothes, for example. True dedication is going far beyond being a companion.
A companion is someone who is there to lean on, a shoulder to cry on. Someone that is there for company. You are not alone because he is with you. He is not going out of his way to keep you happy or satisfied. Dedication is a way of life. It is meant for life. If you are dedicated to do something it will, more than likely changed your life one way or the other.

Dedication would suggest some exclusivity. Companionship suggests a relationship on mutual convenience.

Companionship is two people hanging out together as friends. Dedicated is going steady, hooking up or announcing you're boyfriend/girlfriend.

Please be aware this is a VERY brief summary, and not at all complete. Judaism, which is based on what we commonly know as The Old Testament, is the oldest of the religions you listed. Christianity, which covers both Christians and Catholics (who are also Christians, but don't tell them that), is an offshoot of Judaism. They believe that Jesus Christ was God in human form, and that he died and was resurrected. The main difference between Catholic and non-Catholic Christians is that Catholics recognize the authority of the Pope. Islam is the most recent development in this thread of religions. While it is based mainly on the Koran, it recognizes the Bible as holy scripture and Jesus as a prophet of Allah.

Basically, from what I gather he probably meant:

Companionship means you are dating each other and other people. You are together because there is no one else better, but if someone better comes along, he's gone.

Dedication means you've had the talk and agree to not see other people and to date each other exclusively.

What it means to him may be different than what it means to anyone here. You'll need to ask him to elaborate if you want to determine his feelings on those issues.

being a companion is like being a spare "tyre ". ie you have no priority in his/her life !
someone once said " never make a person a priority in your life , when you are only an option in his/her " !!
