i am having a party tonight and making a fruit tray (with bananas on it) and i dont want them to get a nasty color. what should i do?

Brush it with juice, to seal it from the outside air a bit. Lemon juice has been suggested, but I think that would severely overpower the banana flavor. If you have some time, experiment with apple or orange juice. Orange is citrus should would work the same as lemon.

Also, if you have a good cook book, it may contain a fuit glaze recipe, which would have the same effect. Fruit Pizza recipes generally include this item as well.

Just about any fruit will start to turn brown after its cut. What I would do is put the cut up fruit in a bowl, all at once or one type at a time and squeeze in a little lime or lemon juice, just enough to coat the fruit and toss it around to coat all, the juice will stop the fruit from turning brown. Do this with all the fruit. Cover with plastic wrap after and keep in the bottom of the refrigerator.

lemon juice is the most common answer but you can also you lemon lime soda if you dont have any lemon juice sprinkle some on it and make sure its coated well this also workes for apples, and potatos and any other fruit that turns brown

dip in lemon juice, this works for other fruit which goes brown too like apples and avocado

Also,don't mix with the other fruit until last item.lemon juice is good or any acidic product,like vinegar,won't taste like vinegar.
