I've seen answers that claim the bible states the earth is not flat. The respondents use Isaiah 40:22 -
'It is he that sitteth upon the CIRCLE of the earth....'
Do you realize that a 'circle' is a two-dimensional object, therefore flat, and NOT a three dimensional orb, or sphere?
Wouldn't the 'infalible' words of an 'all-knowing, all-seeing' god
use the correct term?
Also, do you not see a difference between the earth being 'suspended'(which denotes lack of movement) as the bible states, and the reality of
gravitational forces which cause the earth to rotate and orbit the sun?

People, I understand your rabid religious delusion causes you to attack the questioner.
But, read the question carefully. I did not attack YOUR ridculous beliefs.
Why use that line as definitive answer to a question and then say oh, well, um, it's just a different interpretation?

Oh, o.k. I think I get it.
When you use the bible, in English, to defend your position, It is THE Infallible word of an all-knowing, all-powerful creator.
However, when one of the many lies, contradictions, or impossibilities is poited out, you claim that the English version is not translated correctly.

cicle, circuit, compass. Still two-demensional. In no way can any of those words be referred to as similar to a sphere.
And yes, suspended means suspended. -motionless
In no way is the earth suspended. It is always moving.

Oh, wait, now the bible is the 'inspired' word of god?
When did that happen?
I thought it was the infallible word of god.

Oh dear.........they'll break out all their semantic arguments and tell you that terms had to be used that the poor old ancient biblical folk could comprehend.
You'd think "ball" is pretty simple as oppossed to "round".
The original language must have had a means to distingish those two terms.

Isaiah 40:22
The word translated “circle” here is the Hebrew word chuwg which is also translated “circuit,” or “compass” (depending on the context). That is, it indicates something spherical, rounded, or arched—not something that is flat or square.
==========================================
"'suspended' (which denotes lack of movement) as the bible states, and the reality of..."
False premise. Suspended means suspended. It's simple. Nice try, Chuckles.

Yes, I see that. But I don't know that it makes any difference. The Bible is the inspired word of God. This means that the authors were still held to the vocabulary they had to work with.
But the beauty of the Bible is that even after thousands of years and great technological and scientific advancements...we can still find deep meaning and new teachings in it. That is a miracle of the inspired word of God.

What do your eyes see when you are standing on flat ground in the middle of an open expanse with nothing to block your view of the horizon in any direction? What does this convey to you in similitude?
Are not clouds made up of water droplets suspended in the sky? I have rarely seen clouds that are not moving.

The Bible may not say that the earth is a sphere, but neither does it say it's flat.
There are a lot of things the Bible doesn't talk about. We can search hard to find vague references to some of these topics but they're not really there.

The bible is a book of metaphors and parables, not a literal text of facts and history.

Free Bible Software..... www-e-sword.net [ Not my site ] will give you the NT Greek and OT Hebrew, keyed to the Strongs Numbers!
Once again...... "Puny Mankind...." trys to Figure OUT...... AN INFINITE.... GOD...... WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING HIS LANGUAGE!
Typical of Americans! [ and Yes, I am one too ] They think that they have.... all the answers and yet have Very FEW!
GOD SAYS........
(Isaiah 55:6-to-11) Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
(Isa 55:7) Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
(Isa 55:8) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
(Isa 55:9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
(Isa 55:10) For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
(Isa 55:11) So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Thanks, RR
