yes, because I want him to grow up to be good all round man. I would hate it if he was one of these men who never lifts a finger around the house, or helps to take care of his own children.

My son is 7 months old and he plays with my daughters dolls because he is intrigued by the features of the doll. I believe that it is a good thing that he pokes at the dolls eyes and ears and little nose curiously. I would encourage it for small children because it also helps them develope. So my answer is yes. However I would not want him playing with Barbies at age 4 or 5 because I think that is a little different. Depends on the situation and age of the child I suppose.

I have a two year old son that loves shoes and purses and a lot of girlie things! I was worried at first about all of this but had a talk w/ my sister that also have a young boy and she said that it is normal and they only want these things because they are not used to having them and they do not know any better. So yes if he wanted one I would buy him one. He is going to be the person he wants to be no matter what I do in this situation so why try to change it. What will be will be and I think it is just because he never has toys like this

Absolutely. Little boys grow up to be daddies. Not only will it teach caring and love but gentle and fine motor skills. I have no problem letting my 2 year old Daughter play with trucks and in the dirt. And would love to have a son with a doll. There are plenty of boy dolls.

Actually I did. My son was 2 and wanted a doll like his female cousins. He loved playing daddy. He's five now and could care less about the doll. It's not different then buying a girl a toy truck.

I think I would. It's not like little girls are the only ones who grow up to take care of babies, boys after all, grow up to be Daddies. It does not make a boy gay to play with a doll. My daughter was in Kindergarten last year and they had a housekeeping section, the boys liked to play there as much as the girls, and they took care of the "babies" too. If the boy wants a baby doll, go ahead and buy him one.

Why not? an "action figure" is just a doll for a boy! When i was pregnant with my daughter i was the primary caregiver for my nephew and i bought a doll for him, so he could learn about babies and "take care" of his baby while i was taking care of my daughter.

I don't see any harm in that.. but also depends on his age.. if he is still a baby then i am sure it's OK. It is something to think about tho.. if i had a child i would not buy them aggressive toys.. hmm..but if he was older he could get ridiculed if he was to mention it at school of if his friends found out (if it was a girlie doll).

Only if I thought he really wanted one. My parents bought me a doll carriage when I was 3-4. Not sure why, I should ask them. I remember putting the cat in it (around 1966).

Yes I would and I have. I bought him a baby doll because he wanted one. He was always playing with his older sisters doll so I got him one of his own. He loved it and it was really sweet to see him with it.
He's older now and has outgrown his baby things...these days he's into console games, spiderman stuff, cars etc...all traditional boy things so it didn't turn him "girly" at all. I've just had a new baby and he's very gentle with her and loving...I wonder whether he'd be so considerate with the baby if he hadn't "practiced" with his own when he was younger.
