Any significant change in behavior should be a reason for some concern.
It sounds like a significant and drastic change in your cat for you. I would personally go to the vet right away. You're talking about a half hour of your time and $100 for an exam for the pet that you love. Why not just do it so you can feel more secure about it.

Definitely take her to the vet. She could have kidney problems or some other medical issue.
I had a cat who suddenly started drinking more water one morning - she was also showing other symptoms of illness - and I took her to the vet, and found out her kidneys were slowly failing.
Hopefully it's nothing horrible with your cat, but she needs to see the vet ASAP.

If she's drinking that much, there is a problem. Certainly plenty of fluids is a good idea on hot summer days, but what you describe is excessive.
Take her to the vet. My first suspicion is that your kitty may be diabetic, but there are other possibilities.
Good luck!

If your cat is drinking so much more that you notice it then you should worry ... and if she is still drinking as much in 24 hours, you should at least call your vet and tell him/her about this. She may have a 'throat obstruction' that this extra drinking has 'fixed' but she could have a 'disease' ... and since cats can get diabetes, feline AIDS, and luekemia, I'd WORRY about her ...

This is usually a sign that she may be having urinary problems. It is common that cats drink more than usual when urinary problems rise. Take her in to see the vet.

it could be that you cat has been more playful and energetic causing her to get more thirsty,or the humidity is high, could she be pregnant but there's nothing to worry about her drinking to much if it were the other way around then there would be a worry

Is she losing weight? Is she urinating a lot? Has her appetite changed? Take her to a vet and have her checked for diabetes. I have a cat who is diabetic and that's how we discovered it.
