i have been studying Islam for some time now. Alhumdulillah I M a Muslim. To ensure that I get the most authauntic information, I try to refer to only Quran and Ahadith. Sometimes, just sometimes, when I refer to other books or the net, I make sure they have listed their sources and try to double check with the sources listed.
same goes for other religions I M studying.
n how do u know which religion is correct? well, I dont know about u but Islam appealed to me for some good reasons. I M a science student and Quran can be used literary as a science book. Then I like discipline. Islam has specific laws. I studied laws regarding women especially. N they appealed to my nature. Hijab for instance. I hated the lustful stares that I used to get from males on the street before I wore the hijab. Islam gave me the perfect solution.

I see Islam as being a little contradictory, and easily misinterpreted. One of my best friends is Muslim, and she converted to Islam in her 20s. I very much admire her as she really does try to follow the Qu'ran to the letter, and it's a very disciplined religion - it's far too stifling for me, but then I am agnostic and don't have the belief she has. The problem I have with it is that men are allowed a lot more freedom than women - I'm not talking about the Hijab, as I understand that's totally optional, but more that a man can marry a non-Muslim and that's ok, but if a woman does, she goes against Allah and will more than likely be disowned - I can't see any justification for this. I do feel bad for Islam as a faith in today's climate as so many people just jump on the hating bandwagon without any knowledge at all - it's a religion I admit I had very little knowledge of until I met my friend. I think there are so many GOOD things about Islam that have been overshadowed by terrorism, and that's very sad.

I know that Islam (as we know it) was founded by Muhammad in the 7th century based on the Qur'an, which he claimed to have been dictated to by the angel Gabriel on Allah's orders.
Islam claims to be the true and original Abrahamic faith, and that Judaism, Christianity and their respective holy books have become distorted by time, error and human corruption. However Jews and Christians are allowed some degree of tolerance under Islamic law, "honestly misguided" might be one way to put it. The Qur'an is supposed to be the final revelation of truth from the Abrahamic God, however there are conflicts between the central beliefs of Christianity and Islam, in particular the Crucifixion, Resurrection and Jesus's(Isa) status. Islam states that Jesus never died on a cross, instead he was carried into heaven by God and that Jesus was not the Son of God as Christians believe, just a prophet.
I am a Christian and so do not believe the claims of Islam, but if Muslims are prepared to regard me as honestly misguided I will extend them the same tolerance.

You asked a very good question. How do you know if it's correct? How do you know which religion is correct? There are 150 major religions world wide. Which gives you a 0.6% chance of following the correct religion. Which gives you a 99.4% chance of following the wrong religion. You would think that if God exists and he is all powerful and all knowing. He could have done a better job of making himself clear. Bottom line is god is imaginary. Religion is just an ancient form of government. Which, provided answers to questions that could not be answered due to the lack of scientific understanding. Those who wrote the bible thought the world was flat. That's got to tell you something. Heaven is the bribe and hell is the punishment if you don't follow. Heaven is also a motivator to convince soldiers to fight to their death.

being born a muslim i think is a very good thing but converting(reverting) to it is in my opinion is a great and wonderfull thing,as you learn fully about it.Being a born muslim took a lot of islam went over my head and when was younger was foerced to wear the hijavb rather than told why i should wear it etc. This is not religion this is culture where a lot of misconceptions take place and as i grew older i rebelled against my parents against religion as they could not teach me properly what i was seeking.
islam is about having your own personal contact with the big guy upstairs wheras others depend on a heirarchy as priests bishops popes rabbis etcIslam basically you dont need them as you came into this world alone and you will die alone and you will face god/allah alone for your own actions etc
(gosh i dont half ramble on innit?lol)

How do we know any religion is correct. I personally think religion is just a psychological dummy a lot of people suck just to reassure themselves that they do not have to face life on their own.
Does anyone really believe singing or chanting some particular incantation or prayer on a regular basis will nake any difference to what happens to you when you shuffle off this mortal coil?

islam is the only religion that the quran is written in the time and under the prophet approval. that why in study of quran and hadith we have rawi and riwayah.
we don't have evidence that other holy book on other religion is written by the prophet himself. the book originality is on question.
