A horse is tied to a 10 meter rope in front of an old saloon. 11 meters behind the horse is a bale of hay. Without breaking his rope, the horse is able to eat the hay whenever he chooses. How is this possible?

Despite the 10 meters of rope, it's not tied to anything except for the horse.

The horse is more than a meter long. The horse can add his own length to the rope length and get at the hay, regardless of where the horse is tied up.

The horse is already at the end of the 10-metre rope, 10 metres from where the rope is tied.

The hay is 1 metre behind where the rope is tied.

Several other variations, since the horse has a 20-metre diameter circle in which he (or she) can roam.

The rope ain't tied to anything or the saloon is too old. (you said it yourself!) The saloon is so old everything is broken and fell out. And there are two bales of hay. One in front of him and another 11 metres behind him.

i'm guessing but i doubt it's right.....the beggining of the length of the 11 meters starts at the thingy where the rope is tied to the pole connected to the horse and the horse is i think 1 meter long? i don't know but i'm just guessing

the horse himself is more than a meter long. so he doesnt even have to stretch the rope all the way to be able to stick his face in the bale...

a few possibilities
1. someone/something gives him the hay
2. he's a meter long
3. nature intervenes so the wind blows the hay near him
4. and finally the rope he's tied on can be stretched

he is at the beginning of the rope, so 11 meters is just 1 meter of stretching up to do. _
