if somebody wants to be vegan, why do people give them advice telling them to eat meat? it's their choice and it doesn't even effect anyone elses life.

why can't we just be nice to people, especially if they aren't mean to us?

Perhaps because of your age...?

If you are very young, people will naturally want to guide you in all sorts of subjects, and that would include what you eat.

If it's not due to your age, perhaps it's because you don't look well...?

I don't know why anyone would comment, unless, of course, you had made a big deal about it.

Some people are just busybodies, they think they know best how to live, what we need to eat, what we need to wear... I think it's very condescending even if they mean well and want to make sure you get all your nutrients. Do they really think vegans & vegetarians don't know what they should eat as substitutes? Now if someone is just starting out I could understand some well-meaning advice, but only when the vegan/vegetarian himself brings up the fact he's very new at it. Otherwise, I'm sure he knows what he's doing and it's no ones business to give unwanted advice.

I let people be who they want as long as they are not hurting themselves or somebody else. If somebody doesn't want to eat meat that's their choice. Besides there are other ways of getting protien. I have a dear friend who is a breast cancer survivor and she doesn't eat meat because she doesn't know what they were fed. I understand where she's coming from since the FDA isn't real dependable so she eats only organic foods. She's only 30 and there is no history of breast cancer in her family.

This is so true!

I've been a vegetarian for over 17, almost 18 years and I can't tell you how many times people have tried to talk me into eating meat. It's very annoying. It's not like I'm trying to push my believes on them!

There are many out there who believe we HAVE to eat meat. Personally, I don't care if someone wants to be vegan. It's their choice and doesn't effect me...

Possibly because there are some nutrients that can only be obtained via meat and people get concerned that vegans don't realize this or supplement for them.

I couldn't care less about what people eat. It's their call.
