Try the invisible fence within a conventional fence.

Depending on which brand of invisible fence you bought, you may want to consider contacting the manufacturer. Collar size can play a role in efficacy of the fence. Instructions for training usually come with the fence also. It is very important to follow the training method outlined in the directions. Dogs will not respond to just laying the fence and putting on a collar. They won't associate the shock with the area "off limits". It usually involves laying out flags along the border and systematically walking your dog along the perimeter. This is not a one time occurrence either. It will take daily training for several weeks. Be patient, the invisible fence can work.

Combining it with a traditional fence helps, but you will still need to train your dog.

A 20 minute walk daily will help reduce the anxiety and excess energy your dog may have.

I do agree that tying up your pet is never the solution.

I hope this all helps.

Where did you get you invisible fence? Professional Dealer or pet store?

www.petstop.com

Take a look at this website it will give you information on the most advanced pet fence on the market. Look up your local dealer and give him a call, there is a zip code locator on the website to show you who your local dealer is.

You dog doesn't need higher shock, just a fence that works properly and the dog is trained to.

Build a visible fence. It's no good putting your dog in shock especially if it doesn't work. A higher shock would only make the torture worse and may drive her crazy.

Call the fence company and ask about changing the voltage.

build a dog run

typically dogs jump fences because they are bored - she needs more mental stimulation, you cant just toss a dog outside and expect it to entertain itself.. you must go out with it and play with it - etc.. provide toys so it has something to do when outside...

your fence is too low for starters - depending on your dog breed you may need 6 ft fence.

tying a dog is never a good idea.

This seems like a situation in which you need a taller fence.
