I am 14 and wanted to take my laptop with me, I am going Pakistan to visit my granny and since its gonna be real hot, i'll be staying inside for quite a while.

And I want to be able to see my pictures instantly, on the laptop.

My mother says i can take it but it will be my responsibility.

I wish to take it, could you give some tips and advises on travelling with a laptop.

I have erased bank information and any files with passwords or personal details.

any other things i must do to protect it?

and what should i do in case i forget it at the airport or something?

If the reason to take the laptop is only for the pictures I don't think so U should take it.... U always can watch the pictures on a TV screen... Don't forget "all the adapters" ....

Don't take your computer with you. There are Internet cafes everywhere. Get a small card reader for your photos. They plug right into the bus slot on any newer computer. Take your photos. pull the card out of the camera and stick it in the reader and the reader in the bus slot. Your pictures are there. Also... Take a travel drive with you on your key chain. The one that I use is one Gig but you can get them much larger. They make moving data around much easier and they plug right into the bus slot as well. Again... Don't take your computer. You spend more time worrying about your brick than you do enjoying your vacation and it could get ripped off anyway. Besides, Who wants to carry it around? So get your basic card reader,(about the size of a match book) and a travel drive,( about the size of a pen) and you will have all the access and none of the hassle.

There's no problem of taking your laptop with you anywhere as long as you can carry them with you at ease. You have a choice...get a usb driver (traveler's driver)which you can store your data/pictures and use it at the Internet cafe or bring your laptop with you for you further amusements indoors. And don't forget to bring and outlet adapter with you for your laptop. Wherever you came from , it may not have the same electric outlet you use as in Pakistan. I see lots of people carrying their laptop at the airport too and mp3's like that...it's allowed for your carry on plus don't worry on forgetting it somewhere cause you won't. It's your most precious possession on your journey, how can you forget it. Have fun.

You probably need to get a packet of international electricity adapters. I've seen them at Walmart in the luggage department. Their electricity plugs are different than ours.
