Puppies need extra nutrition to grow up healthy. Your puppy should be fed three or four times a day. Follow the directions on the dog food can or bag as to how much to feed.

Twice a day. Once in am, once in pm. The amount will vary with the size (weight) of dog. Our pup is 35 #'s and she gets 3 cups twice a day.
Be sure and give them a good puppy food too!! don't go for the cheap stuff..........just makes them poop more and not give them the proper nutrients they need when they are growing so fast. also, it usually makes their coat just shine. We use Science Diet and our vet says she is the perfect weight. We do reward her with a few treats throughout the day but don't over do them either. They can spoil the puppys appetite.

Good luck

PS. Once the pup is weined from its mother........do not give it milk. They will get the runs from it.

Until 6 mos old they should be fed 3x a day. Extremely active dogs like weims should be fed 3x daily until 9 mos. A pup's stomach is too small to hold all or even half his daily nutritional needs in one sitting.
Free-feeding (as suggested by another) lets dogs graze all day but also tends to make them fat as people just keep the bowl full and the dog eats...and eats...and eats...
Check your bag for amounts (determined by dog's current weight) and divide into thirds.
Be sure to feed a premium quality food like Canidae; it has no empty fillers like corn and wheat (which may lead to food allergies) and since it does not, you feed less they poop less. Also you do not have to dither over what adult food to switch him and when, since it is for all life stages.

1 time a day, a small bowl full. If the puppy keeps eating, let him eat but not overboard.
