Now Free is different than open source. Open means the source is freely available for people to use and modify. Free means you don't pay for it. Most Linux distros can be purchased or downloaded.
The list is a start, but by far complete. I listed the most popular.
Solaris-UNIX-NOT
Windows (all types)-Windows-NOT
MAC OS-(Unix based)-NOT
Red Hat-Linux-NOT (newest enterprise versions)
Fedora Core-Linux-IS
FreeBSD-BSD Unix-IS
Slackware-Linux-IS
Knoppix-Linux-IS
Ubuntu-Linux-IS
Gentoo-Linux-IS
If you are interested in Linux I provide a link below to start your search.

The "main" ones are basically Windows DOS/95/98/me/nt/2k/xp/2003/vista -all pay
most Linux distros are free http://distrowatch.com/
And now to a lesser extent Novel Netware, not a desktop OS.
Some free alts: FreeDos & a beta called ReactOS that is trying for Windows compatibilty.
