There are so many athiests, both here on Yahoo and in the world as well. Lets say we are having a conversation with non-believers, what points would you make, to try to prove that God exists? ( I know it's impossible to "prove" it to a non-believer, but for the sake of what points we could make, how would we try )
What could you say about creation?
What would we say about our own existance?
What could we say in answer to people who say that the world is so messed up and full of pain, so how could there be a God?
I'm sure I'll get alot of answers from non-believers, but basically I would like positive feedback, on how to counter a negative response to questions about God., (I'm not intending disrespect.)
Thanks

One day the devil said to God, that he could do anything God could do.
God said, "Ok, create a human "
The devil picked up a handful of dirt..
God said, "Whoa! Get your own dirt!"
Silly,,,but...the point is that only God can really create!

Sara and Edmond, I do respect your decision on not believing. I know there's nothing anyone can do, or should do, to change you. I wouldn't cram God down anyones throat! God wants people to come to Him, willingly.
I was looking for "proof" or words to say, when someone says "there is no God!"
The truth is as Jack says, " We can't bring anyone to Christ, it is the work of the Holy Spirit. "

The Christian God was very careful to prove Himself when He had the Bible written. He wanted to make sure you would recognize him as a God when he acted. What he did is predict the future. No person on earth, no medium or psychic, can claim the one hundred percent prediction rate of God. God gave names, dates, and places so we can check out history and verify his work. He even gave us the very words someone would say centuries before the fact!
By taking this route, God would not have to appear and prove himself over and over again to new groups of people.
Now if you wanted everyone to know that you, as God, were going to come as a human being, you would explain what you were like so you would be recognized. You would put in the city of your birth, where you grew up, what kinds of deeds you would do, your temperament, your purpose, even how you would die.
God did all that in the Old Testament. It was all in written form four hundred years before Jesus came. The New Testament gospels follow Jesus and point out some of the places where He fulfilled the prophecies.
Let me give you an amazing example of prophecy.
“Daniel 11, written in the 6th century B.C., gives an amazingly thorough account of Alexander’s Grecian kingdom, divided first into four competing factions after his death. It predicts details of the struggle between the Ptolemy and Seleucid empires for a period of 160 years, right down to the advent of the Roman Empire. That is why the skeptics used to claim that the book of Daniel could not have been written before 164 B.C., but now we have proof of a much earlier writing text.
“The prophet Isaiah (44:28) gave the name of a king not yet born and of a kingdom not yet instituted and of an event that would not take place for another 150 years. He predicted that a king named Cyrus would commission the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem. Cyrus did come to the throne in Persia, and in the first year of his reign in 538, he issued a decree that the temple in Jerusalem should be rebuilt. (See 2 Chronicles 36:22-Ezra 1:1-3. This prophecy described in the Bible is confirmed by the discovery of a Babylonian inscription.)
“Daniel actually gave the time when Christ would come into the world and die. Daniel (9:24) predicted that Messiah would be cut off (die) 483 Hebrew years after the issuing of the Persian decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem. Artaxerxes Longimanus issued that decree on March 5, 444 B.C. (Neh. 2:1-8), granting the Jews permission to rebuild Jerusalem’s city walls. This, too, is confirmed by archeological discoveries. Four hundred eighty-three prophetic years (360 days to a year) and seven days later, Jesus was crucified as predicted. How could a prophet accurately predict the date of Messiah’s death hundreds of years before it took place, unless he was the ‘voice’ of God as he claimed?”
Thanks to the Dead Sea Scrolls found at Qumran, we know with certainty the above prophecies date before the occurrence of actual prophesied events.
He has proven His existence perfectly and wonderfully. The Christian God is the true God.

I would start with friendship. To care for someone, show them you love them without expecting anything in return. Then if you are a Christian, be yourself, this means let Christ work through you. Finally when interest in the Bible arises, show the person how God changed your life. You could also show passages like Isa 53 or Psalm 22 and explain how God declares the end from the beginning and uses prophecy as His signature. On top of that don't forget to pray for that person. We can't bring anyone to Christ, it is the work of the Holy Spirit.

You don't. Most people once they believe a certain way they are in that set frame of mind unless they can actually seee the truth with their own eyes. The problem with this, is that NO ONE living has ever seen God Not even Noah or Moses. So by the time they do meet God at Judgment day they will be assout because it will be too late

One point is that the Bible says that it is the word of God.
If God gave us the Bible it should be correct.
The Bible says that man and dinosaurs lived together (the word dinosaur was made in 1884 - in the Bible they are called Behemoth, Leviathan and dragons). There are several places in the world where there are human and dinosaur footprints in the same rock.
Also the Bible says that God would give us His Spirit and power. I could take you to a church where you could see (and hear) this. People speaking in tongues, also there might be healing, and for that person, some one to give them a prophecy from God.

I don't think you can prove most atheists that there is a god. I am an atheist, my friends tried o convict me back to christianity, it only made the relationship worse. I think you should respect the choice that these people made, and if you want to avoid quarrels, I think you should just give up.
Most of the atheists in the world are very dogmatic about their belief, because they are used to people like you telling them otherwise. I guess the best thing you can do, is just pray for them. Maybe that will work...

Honestly, there isn't anything you can say to change their heart. Only God can do that. All you can do is speak Gods truths, ans let God do the rest. A lot of people already have in there mind what they choose to believe. Only God can change there heart. Just plant the seed and pray.

About Creation i would say can you really look at the world, the sky, the trees, and all the animals and tell me it was an accident.
I exist because of my maker.
About the world, When God threw lucifer out heaven he took to walking the earth. He is the source of pain and all the bad that happens here and having Jesus in my heart protects me to a point I have to fall back on Him, He who holds me up, and He does all the time.
When people hear what I have gone through in life they ask how I did it, All I can say is through the grace of God. I try to let them see Him through me.

Way I see it, you shouldn't, and you can't
First of all, there seriously is no proof that there is a God.
If people feel Gods "Presence" they will believe but they don't so therefore they don't believe.
I myself am an atheist, and I feel strongly about people trying to cram religion into our lives.
I take it as a sign of insecurity within the religion.
So there really isn't a way of Proving there is a God. Any strong atheist won't believe no matter what. So it's also an act of futility.

richard dawkins opens his book(the god delusion)
with these words someone named adams have said:
"its enough to see that a garden is beautiful without
believing that there are fairies at the bottom of it"
well, as much witty these words seem, apparently
dawkins forgot the scientific fact that gardens just dont pop out, someone plants the seeds, someone takes care of a garden, what ever they say, evolutionists can never know who initiated their big-bang, in other words, creation, their worst enemy is the thing they know is there & they cant explain, most atheist are one of two: either scientist who cant take the idea of someone greater that them, or simply rebels that want to be different.

I would say, look in the mirror, such a nice smile and the
twinkle in their eyes, just like an angels, an angel created
only by the love of God. And he will love you even if you
dought his existence !
