it depends on what kind of family setting and place. if you are staying with the family from Kathmandu and city area there is no problem at all. but if you are staying with the conservative family of rural area try to dress in more Nepali way. i do not mean that you should were sari but it would not be best idea to wear miniskirts in those settings.
as you are working in school i would like you to suggest the dress school follows for the teacher. its is always fun to wear what one like most but we should keep in mind that it is best to wear something which is accepted by the society where you are living.
this would be monsoon season and little hot weather so flexible cotton pants and trousers would be good idea. for rainy seasons raincoats and waterproof bags would help a lot.

at last as a Nepali students who have been taught by the foreign teacher on exchange program i would like you to suggest that you would not only represent yourself but there would be time when you have to answer on behalf of your country, culture and people so think about it. dress says a lot of things.
happy stay at Nepal.

If youre not sure, perhaps cover up for the first few days until you can judge the situation. Better to be over cautious at first than get off to a bad start! Just be polite and im sure theyll be happy. Maybe try to learn a few basic words in Nepalese?

Nepal is conservative in dress - probably best to cover up really.

Yes, cover your knees, especially. That shouldn't be any problem for you to do.
