In the immediate here and now, without all of the metaphysical heaven and hell-Supreme Being-Day of Judgement stuff, Buddhism seems to offer the best answers as it deals with the life we are currently living (the suffering we all go through, realizing the cause of that suffering and how to stop that suffering). Yes a lot of it has been clouded by some "hocus pocus" and useless ritual from the various cultures that have come into contact with Buddhism but, the basic teaching of the Four Noble Truth and the Noble Eightfold Path are all spot on.
If you want the religion aspect for answers, the the Holy Qur'an delivers a very complete system which spans not only the heaven and hell stuff but also provides a very workable and fair system of living with others (which, all too often, like all religions, is not being praticed by its adherents).
Buddhism, will help you to find "your " answers instead of find someone elses answers and adopting them.
Of course, if you are a Monty Python fan, then the meaning of life is death (see the movie!)
May it all be well with you.

Get what you can, make yourself happy, die feeling like you have accomplished something.
Think of how you were when you were a child with no responsibilities. This is how you should try and live your whole life. Freedom and happiness are the meaning of life.

Your question supposes that life has a meaning. This isn't necessarily so, as the range of answers to it vary so wildly. So begin with the belief that life has NO meaning, and proceed to give it one.

The meaning of life is eternity or eternal joyful life. Thus, man is god unfinished today; and is to become angel-like in the coming kingdom of heaven ruled by THE LORD JESUS CHRIST that will start in the year 3500; and later 15 billion years from now when the then old earth and old heaven will be melted away will be replaced by a new earth and a new heaven with its garden of paradise-this will be the final habitation of gods or like-GOD joyfully overseeing countless universes to be created by the LORD GOD-THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. And the gods will become from glory to glory in unending world called Omega. That is the substance of life or the meaning of life in gloriously unimaginable truth but just for now though this will be revealed later in the Kingdom of GOD. THANKS GOD; FEAR GOD; PRAISE GOD; GLORIFY GOD; HONOR GOD; LOVE GOD AND WORSHIP GOD. Pls visit my website-THEGOODNEWSOFTHEKINGDOM@yahoogroups.com

Life on earth is a journey, sometimes long and sometimes short, to another world which is entered through death. There are two destinations commonly called heaven and hell. There may be other ways to heaven, but we only know of one, and that is to have a faith-relationship with God through Jesus, His Son. During your journey, you are to love others, even your enemies, as yourself, and are invited to share the message of Jesus with others, like I have with you. That is the meaning of life. I invite you to walk along with us.

Life is how you perceive it.
If you have a negative personality, you will find no meaning.
If you are positive, everything has meaning.
Without love and kindness, life is very lonely.
