I have a very large amount of data stored in MS Excel for my bussiness use (i have a CD shop, i have records in ms excel). Now i want to transfer my add data from MS Excel to MS Access.
I Excel i have the data in this format
Sr. no. -- Name of Movie -- Casting --- Productions -- Date released.

Now i have leaned how to use MS Access and i think Access ih better and easier to handle data and its easy to retrieve data. How can i transfer all of my data? I cant simply add data manually as it will be too much time taking.

First you want to make sure of a few things.

1. Your Excel data must have column titles.
2. Your Excel records need to be in rows.
3. Avoid using spaces in your column (field) names.
This will pay off later as you become more proficient in access and you will be glad you did.

Example:

SerialNo MovieName Casting
123 Eeeek Robere
124 Sleepy Robert
125 Bump Mary

Save the worksheet

Open access, create a new blank database.
Right click on Tables.
Select Import.
In the file dialog, select file type *.xls
Select the Excel worksheet.
Select the specific sheet which has your data.
Choose the columns to import.
Import.

There you go. You have imported your Excel data into an Access database.

Good News, you can simply transfer the data from excel to access and vis versa.
open MS Access database or create New( or Blank) Access database , go to file menu and then select
get external data a dialog window will appear just change the file typle from the drop down list into excel file type and select the excel file that contains you data and click ok
a wizard will aske you what data to transfer , in which sheet, and the colums , etc. when you finish you will see your data copied into an Access database table named by the name of your excel sheet.

that's all
