One thing that you can try with hemorrhoids is something that is called a sitz bath. It requires using warm water with something like baking soda. The heat is to try and shrink the hemorrhoids. It can be done in the bathtub but the water needs to go up a 3rd of the body. Then you sit and soak in the baking soda and water mixture (can try sea salt too) for about 15-20 minutes and do this a few times a day.

The other thing that sometimes can be done is to see the dr to have them remove it (this is something I will eventually need to have done because of how long I've had this particular hemorrhoid).

If you should decide to go this route start with your primary care physician first if you have the kind of insurance that requires it.

I just had a horrible case of hemorrhoid's. I took a very warm bath with Epsom salt in the water. I soaked for about 30 minutes. It made me feel temporarily better. I also used preparation H (not the gel kind but the original kind) and I also put Vaseline on the outer area. Vaseline makes it much easier when you have a bowel movement. They also have the donut things you can sit on so you don't sit down directly on the hemorrhoids. If they last for a long period of time, I would probably go to the doctor. Sometimes doctors have to remove them.

First, do not sit down on hard cold surfaces.
Second, get preperation H suppositories. Use them as symptoms dictate.

Never strain over bowel movements, get more exercise.

Get more roughage.
