I only know what pleases Shani most-devotion to God pleases him the most since he is a great Krishna bhakta. When you worship Sain or Hanumaan it pleases him the most.

a story about Shaneshwara-he was absorbed in meditating upon Lord Krishna. His wife wanted a child from him but he was so engrossed in his devotion that his wife's desire was ignored by him. In rage his wife cursed him that whoever Shani will caste his glance upon will be troubled. So the affect of Saturn's phase on a person is usually harsh. For example the saadhe saati is a very tough time

Saturn casts his harsh glance on everyone at least once in thier life time. But the devotees of Lord Hanumaana remain protected because Saturn promised Hanumana that he would never trouble the one who worships Hanumana with all his heart.

Ways to please Sri Shani-Maharaj

For Shani you can offer, Til Oil or Rice with til (Seasame seed). You can offer Black Cloth on Saturday to Sani in Temples or make Dhanam (Gift) poor. These are supposed to please shani.

Also it is said that Shaneeswara Swamy is a very great devotee of Lord Shiva. As mentioned in the "Navagraha Pidahara Sthothram" of "Brahmanda Purana", anybody who chants the following sthothra is relieved from all the ill-effects of Shaneeshwara Swamy placed in bad houses.

Suryaputhro Deerghadeho Vishaalaakshah Shivapriyah | Mandachaarah Prasannathmaa peedam harathu me Shanih ||

सूर्य पुत्रो दीर्घ देहो विशालाक्षः शिवप्रियः। मन्दचारः प्रसन्नात्मा पीडां हरतु मे शनिः ॥

One who prays to Lord Vishnu is protected from Shani as he is said to be a great devotee of Vishnu. (It is interesting to note that Hanuman Himself was devoted to Lord Rama, an avatar of Vishnu).

It is also a wide spread belief that one who is an ardent devotee of Lord SriLakshmiNarasimha Swamy or Lord Venkateswara (Balaji) is is also always protected by Sri Shani Maharaj. -
