Because usually the lie is more exciting than the truth, especially is you are trying to tell someone something about them self that they need to know but don't want to accept.

Anything of value has a price. Truth is valuable because it gives one the possibility of making wise choices and reaping the benefits. Truth however requires an investment of time or other resources to locate and to identify. It often depends upon beleiving another person that has found and is willing to share the truth. Furthermore it takes time and research to determine if people are trustworthy. Many people are not willing to make the investment to find truth, and therefore they are left to beleive in whatever is readily available-the television news for example.

There are however people that are willing to pay the price so that others do not need to pay as much. Many people are so afraid of what others think of them-especially their families, bosses, or others from whom they receive physical, emmotional, or other support. The black sheep that do not beleive like the rest end up often being ridiculed or otherwise treated poorly. It is worth one's time to at least listen to those that are willing to sacrifice their personal pleasures for the sake of their ideas or beleifs-they have something at stake and willing to pay the price-they know the value of what they know and have to share with others. They are willing to pay a high price themselves (often their lives) to share it freely with others. This is perhaps one reason that chrisianity was not totally wiped out in the face of the challenges that it faced in it's early years.

Everyone develops a schema... their idea of how the world works... You develop your schema throughout your childhood and beyond. When you learn something new, your schema changes.

But when you learn of a "truth" that can compeltely destroy your schema.... it is easier to deny the truth than to accept it. This is why people rather accept a lie. In their mind... that truth cannot be true, because it would completely destroy their perception of how the world works.

Following the path of truth requires the discipline to follow what God has commanded and stay away from what he has prohibited. Most people would rather just follow their lusts and desires, as it is just easier. Though, with faith, the path of righteousness is truly the easy path!

How do you know whats the truth? How can you know a lie? Is this just your opinion? or is it backed with logic and fact?

It is a SIN against God to Lie, and people love to SIN.
If they don't know Jesus, they don't know any better and could care Less. To Lie is of Satan, because the Bible says "He is the Father Of All Liars".
