I am going to a friends wedding this weekend and I don't know if I should take a wedding present. I am traveling 9 hours to go and I am only able to stay the evening and the trip is going to cost me quite a bit..she told me that me going was the best present she could get but should I still take something??

you should get them something. Just get them something with a low price tag.

I would, even if it's something small like someone suggested a 25 dollar gift card.
Weddings are getting crazy with the amount of money are spending on gifts, my cousin wanted me to bring a gift for the wedding shower, her stagette, the couple stag and then the wedding. So I bought her a nice set of dishes and gave her pieces at each function. She was not impressed but oh well.

No, you do not have to take a gift, but, do give a nice card. A gift is not required and apparently the bride was thoughtful enough to reiterate that to you. It is lovely of you to go. Sharing in the joy of the couple with attendance is what wedding ceremonies are all about.

Yea- I think you should. Never heard of anyone going to a wedding without a present. It's like showing up at a birthday party without one. Buy her a little something- doesn't have to be anything fancy and expensive. If you're not going to buy her a present, I would suggest at least buy her a card and flowers or something.

Yes, you really should bring a gift. If you are already strapped for cash just make it something small. Wrap it nicely with a pretty bow and include a card with a heartfelt note. It would be a very nice gesture on your part and your friend will always remember you for it.

Take her at her word that your presence is the best present.

Standard etiquette says to give a gift (not necessarily at the ceremony); however, in this case, a card would be sufficient.

yes you should get her somthing i dunno i would find it rude if a person didnt you know that it is expected of a person so you know go to the dollar store and get like a basket some candle massage oils two wine glasses and wine/ champane and if youre really close though in some naughty treats and give it to the bride in private. its can be her honey moon package! and its really cheap that way but looks like you took time and thought to put it all together, and besides it can be used after the honey moon too i bet they would be thankful for it :P

Fill out a card from you before you go to the reception. Slap it onto a gift in the pile when no one is looking.

A nice small item for the house would be nice. Nicely wrap it and a nice card. Presentation is marvellous.

Since you will be spending so much on the trip itself, givng her a small inexpensive gift is fine....say not more than $30.
