Not going to quote the bible this time... Harrison Ford said it best in "Clear and Present Danger":

"Not black and white... RIGHT and WRONG!"

Well honestly I don't think I'm a religious person. A better term would be spiritual. And I don't believe in black and white because every situation has different circumstances. Everything's in shades of gray.

That's an odd question to ask. The "color" depends upon the issue. Are you "gray" with murder? Are you "gray" with child abuse?

The point is there are a host of issues that religious and non-religious people see in terms of black and white.

As to religious people, they see plenty of gray; but you'll have to be more specific.

I'm religious and I see things in gray.

Christian "fundamentalists" have made being a Christian in the United States, mean that a person must also follow the Right wing. This is wrong.

Many Christians, although not a majority, do not equate being a political right with being Christian.

The Bible isn't as black and white on many subject as the Christian Right would have you believe. The Bible does not speak to abortion directly, and there are even a few passages in the bible that support a pro-choice stance. The Christian Right does not quote these passages.

The Bible also doesn't speak to immigration, gay marriage, or the war in Iraq. Yet still the Christian Right insists that they are right regarding these matters.

The Christian Bible does tell us to love each other, and to love a person regardless of the sins he or she has committed. Christian Right Wing Fundamentalists fail to see these passages also.

I like to think, as a religious person, that I see the entire spectrum. I don't judge anyone as black or white unless they THOROUGHLY earn it. A person is a person - everyone's different, not many people are completely good or bad.

If someone is truly religious, they should really be seeing everyone for who they really are rather than classifying them as black or white.

Sara,
I am a Christian and follow the Bible. I don't just see in black and white however. I am a hospice nurse and have taken care of well in excess of 100's of dying people and their families. I don't impose my religious beliefs and them and give the non Christians the same love, care and comfort that I do my Christian patients.

I am not religious person. I have a personal relationship with God.

Since no one else did it, I quote the Bible:
Rev 3:15-16
" I know your deeds, that you are neither cold or hot. I wish you were one or the other. So, because you are lukewarm - neither hot nor cold - I am about to spit you out of my mouth"

It is like if you put sour milk to the fresh, good milk :sour milk is spoiling the fresh and good milk.

We try to be as white as possible, but being human, we'll always have a tinge of gray unless the Almighty decides otherwise.

Cos light and darkeness technically cannot co-exist forever in one's heart.

Maybe they all have borderline personality disorder. No, seriously, a big thing with this disorder is the inability to see gray, only black and white.
