I'm a seventeen year old girl going to Portland for two weeks to visit my aunt and uncle. They keep asking me what I want to do when I'm there. Seeing as I've never been out west, I really have idea. What are some things, common and uncommon (but fun for a teenage girl), that I should do while in Portland?

The two most visited sites in Oregon are the Columbia River Gorge and The Tillamook Cheese Factory. Everyone, regardless of age, likes these. The highlight of the gorge is Multnomah Falls. See if your aunt and uncle are ready to walk to the top! It's harsh but the view down the waterfall is great. There is another falls, I think it is called Oneonta Falls, where you have to wade through cold deep water to see it. It's worth it. You'll be giggling afterwards. Just bring a change of clothes and don't forget your water shoes.

The Tillamook Cheese Factory is located in Tillamook. You get to see cheese being made. They have samples and there is the ICE CREAM! Oh my God!! It's heavenly. Get the big cone. You're on vacation.

While on the coast, don't forget to visit the aquarium. If you want to camp, I recommend the county campground just north of the ice creamery. Spot U4 is the best.

If you have time to drive the hour up to Mt. Hood, do it. They have a lift for pedestrians that runs up to a small hut. There should still be some snow. You can check out cute skiers and snowboarders at the camps.

Portland is like any city but beautiful because of all the greenery. There are a few underage night clubs that would be fun for you. There is Pioneer Square and the NW 21st and 23rd avenues area. Late night, some of the coffee shops fill up with alternative youth needing a coffee jolt.

If it is hot and you need a swim, take a dip in the Willamette south of the city or try the Clackamas. There is a cool spot for youth called High Rocks. You should be a good swimmer though! It is swift and cold.

Enjoy Portland! It is an amazing place and you will be happy you went.

Go to Burnside. There are several cool stores there such as Powells, one of the greatest used/new book stores ever, record shops like Every Day Music & JackPot Records, a vintage toy store, and some clothing resale shops. The Pearl District nearby also has some stores but they are a little more expensive. And don't forget lunch in China Town. There's more shopping to do on the east side, too, with very cool quirky shops.

Also visit the International Rose Garden. It should be beautiful this time of year. They have a huge array of roses.

If you can, drive out to the coast, too. There is Astoria where Goonies was filmed and the Tillamook Cheese Factory.
