I've had pain and stiffness, tingling in my hands. Sometimes during the day and mostly at night and in the mornings. I have been told that it could be arthritis. Once I get going/moving I seem to be okay. I have just started to to take Glucosamine 1500 capsules. Is this safe? Any recommendations?

Glucosamine combined with chondroitin is even better than glucosamine alone.

Fish oil is also supposed to help.

Yes, this can definitely be arthritis. When I first started to have some unusual symptoms in my left thigh area one of the symptoms I had was that of burning and itching so bad that I wanted to scratch. At the time I had these symptoms I didn't have the actual joint pain.

After much testing and confirmation from a rheumatologist (a dr that treats diseases and disorders of the bones and joints such as arthritis) it was confirmed that I have osteoarthritis. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis when I was 19 and I have been living with the osteoarthritis as one of my health problems for nearly 20 years.

Since the diagnosis I will at times feel pain in my knee joint. When my right knee started acting up in the past year with the same symptoms in the thigh area and also the joint pain I knew then that it was osteoarthitis.

Exercise can be a very helpful thing for those with arthritis so that the stiffness doesn't become a huge problem, such as walking.

As for the Glucosamine I've heard good things about it but I would recommend checking with a dr before continuing to use it at that dosage to see what they say.

Could be carpal tunnel as well from what you described. Best thing to do is seek the advice of a doctor. If your hands cramp after using them for a certain period of time, such as holding a pencil and writing or something of the sort, it could be the carpal tunnel. Along with the meds you're taking, you could do hand therapy. If it is too much pain, then go to a doctor. Good luck!

Glucosamine is safe. You could also try MSM and Grape Seed extract.
