I have heard different. I have heard that Days of Our Lives is the longest, but Star Trek (only if you count the spin offs) is the longest running science fiction TV show with over 20 seasons (3 for the original, 7 for The Next Generation, 7 for Deep Space Nine, 5 for Voyager, and 4 for Enterprise) and 11 movies under their belt. The Simpsons is the longest running cartoon. They have been around for over 20 years and are still making new episodes.

toss up between Simpsons and Married w/ Children. Sitcom, anyway.

You also have Wheel of Fortune, Jeapordy, the Tonight Show and whatnot

To say nothing of soaps like Days of Our Lives that have changed casts at least a dozen times over now

My guess to both questions is The Bold and The Beautiful. It's been on for like 15 years.
