God people are ignorant idiots these days (i.e. the top three people).

By AK-47 I assume you mean one of the semi-auto copies, as a real AK-47 would be very expensive and would require special (aka lengthy and annoying) processes to obtain. The semi-auto version retail anywhere from $300-500 depending on the country it's made in and quality of that particular model. AK-47s come pretty cheap and are not very much of a better deal to get online, when you add in shipping and extra cost of transferring the weapon through a licensed dealer, which is required for online firearm sales. Your best bet would be to look up some local gunshops in a phonebook or online and go to a couple. I can assure you that 9/10 gunshops will have at least one in stock. I will also give some links for some reputable online sites for buying firearms.

Oh and Neil, the Second Amendment is NOT about hunting.

Most dealers sell them, they are made in quite a few countries. I have several of the Romanian manufactured models and find them to be very serviceable and reliable, chrome bores and everything. They are very accurate shooters right out of the box and are simplicity itself in how they are made. Just got an ad from J & G that had some, also check out AIM, Inter Ordnance, SAMCO, SOG, Century International Arms, Centerfire Systems; just to mention a few. The AK-47 and the MAUSER are two thundersticks that became yardsticks for weapons in the 20th century. East German AK's are supposed to be the cream de la creme, but I can find nothing wrong with my Romanian models. Try to find a friend with one and look it over and make up your own mind. Whichever one you buy will last forever and give you no problems; they are simplicity itself and function under any conditions.

Cheap...you get junk! There are many AK pistols out there...built from kits with many new parts here in the USA. These hand built guns will run 1000.00 or more for a milled one. If you want a trash AK...you can get them for 500+....pistols in crap style is a little more. Your crap AK will hang up and rattle...trigger slap..mags won't fit.etc...etc... If you want a good one Arsenal should be good or have one hand built with all new parts.

Go to a few gun shows, don't grab the firs tone you see. Look around, see who needs to make a car payment and will want to make a deal. Go for around 325-375 dollars at market value... if you will negotiate and ar epatient you can probably pick a decent one up for under 300. I suggest you buy a Yugoslavian SKS 59/66 instead though... cheaper at 195 dollars, fire the same round as the AK and they are going up in price... try it out and if you don't like it, sell it for a profit and get your AK. Gun shows are good for deals.

Go to Arizona! Seriously! You can buy anything there! Online will have way to many complications! (Bad enough just for a pistol, let alone an assault rifle!)
