I think the word you are looking for is chimera (sounds like
ki me ra)
On the medical channel, they featured 2 women whose children's dna did not match the mother's...until after further study, the women had two separate dna strands that proved the children were theirs. One was USA. the other in the UK.
I think the name of the piece was "I am my own twin"
Hope this helps

Here is some wiki info on chimera:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimera_(genetics)
This was also on an episode of CSI. The killer had had leukemia and had a stem cell transplant from a donor. The killers blood stream was of a diff dna than the rest of his body, so when they tested his dna from a cheek swab it didnt match the dna of his blood left behind at the scene.
This does happen in real life. I have AML and am getting ready to go through a stem cell transplant from a donor (actually from cord blood). I will be given bllod stem cells from two different donors. My blood type will change and so will my blood dna when the graft takes hold and I begin producing new cells.
Other transplant patients with other organ transplant experience simular things.
And as outlined in wiki, this can ocurr naturally.

Being alive?
Multiple DNA strands, you mean like every living thing on earth that has multiple cells, or some kind of medical problem where each cell has more than one DNA strand?

This is a very rare medical process, I don't know the terminology, for people that have had limb or organ replacement surgery. It's possible to carry over the genetic code of the individual that the limb or organ comes from.
In effect a person can carry two DNA codes.

I have no idea what you mean
But like, more than two genes in their chromosomes or something?
Because then it also matters which chromosome pair has the excess chromosomes
For instance, Trisomy 21 is when there are three chromosomes on the 21st pair of chromosomes.
Trisomy 21 is also known as Down Syndrome.
If it's on the sex genes, the X and Y genes, the people with the excess genes are called super.
Super females have XXX, super males have XXY
Random bit of information, calico cats are almost always super females.
But regardless of the sex of the cat, the calico cat will always have one extra X chromosome.
