Please tell me exactly how you know you are one of the 144k that JWs believe are the sole joint heirs with Christ in the new covenant.

Did you have a born again experience?

Lillie - I can't win with JWs. I tell you guys I pray for you, and get thumbs down. I quote watchtower magazines, I get thumbs down. I do not slander, nor tell lies, I speak only truth. And they are truths you should know about. Now, for this particular question, I am curious of the spiritual experience that the annointed go through. Thank you to Rufus for answering me.

Hi Anna.

Although I am not a member of the Watchtower organisation and do not subscribe to the unbiblical doctrine of only 144,000 being born again, I am an anointed witness of Jehovah.

1 John 2:20 - "And you have an ANOINTING from the Holy One, and all of you know." (caps for emphasis)

1 John 2:27 - "And as for you, the ANOINTING which you have received from Him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone teach you; but as His ANOINTING teaches you concerning all things and is true and is not a lie, and even as it has taught you, abide in Him." (caps for emphasis)

The Greek word translated "anointing" in these verses is "chrisma". Of this word, Vine's says, "That believers have 'an anointing from the Holy One' indicates that this anointing renders them holy, separating them to God. The passage (John 2:20 - 27) teaches that the gift of the Holy Spirit is the all-efficient means of enabling believers to possess a knowledge of the truth." (insert mine)

Therefore, the term "anointing" carries with it the sense of holiness (objective separation unto God) and spiritual empowerment. A careful study of the NT epistles will show that this is God's will for ALL Christians, and not just for some "spiritual elite".

In spite of some erroneous WT (mis)interpretations of scripture - including Revelation 7:3 - 8 and John 10:16 - there is actually no sound biblical evidence to support the 144,000 doctrine. In all of the NT epistles to the church, there is never any real indication that the writers were addressing anything other than ONE body of Christian believers. NOT ONCE do any of the writers use the phrase, "To the 144,000 anointed class". On the contrary, as the aforementioned quotes from 1 John show, the apostolic writers considered ALL Christians to be "anointed".

Neither is there a single SCRAP of historical evidence to support that the WT 144,000 theory was a church doctrine. If this was indeed taught by the apostles and received by the first century Christians, why no mention of this teaching prior to it's introduction by the WT in the 1930's ? Not even Arius promoted such a thing.

NOWHERE in John's letter did he even IMPLY that he was writing to a separate class of "anointed" believers. He wrote to the church as a WHOLE. ALL true, born-again, Spirit-indwelt believers in Jesus Christ are anointed.

Ephesians 2:15 - "that He might create the two (Jew & Gentile, cf. John 10:14 - 16) in Himself, into ONE new man..." (insert & caps mine).

Ephesians 2:16 - "And might reconcile both (Jew & Gentile, see John 10:14 - 16 again) in ONE BODY to God through the cross..." (hallelujah! insert & caps mine).

Ephesians 4:4 - 6 - "ONE body and ONE Spirit, even as you were called in ONE hope of your calling; ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism; ONE God and Father of all..." (caps for emphasis).

The ONENESS of Christ's TRUE people. No HINT of two classes of "Christian".

ONE mediator - not TWO, not Jesus AND the 144,000 - between God and men. Who is it ? (1 Timothy 2:5)

"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born anew, he CANNOT see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3, caps for emphasis)

"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he CANNOT enter into the kingdom of God." (John 3:5, caps for emphasis)

Those are the words of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. He says that unless one is born anew (again), that person cannot perceive or enter into God's kingdom, with NO exceptions.

Please consider also the words from the apostle Paul in Romans 8:9, where he says, "But you are not in the flesh, but in the spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Yet if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, HE IS NOT OF HIM." (caps for emphasis). Pretty clear, huh ?

JW's, if you are NOT born-again, INDWELT ("anointed") by the Holy Spirit of God, then you are NOT Christ's. Indeed, you have no right to refer to Him as your Lord and Saviour, because, as the previous scripture shows, YOU ARE NOT OF HIM.

I sincerely doubt if even the so-called 144,000 "anointed" JW's are actually born-again. TRUE witnesses of Jehovah subscribe to the TRUTH about the Father and the Son. The anointing of the Holy Spirit would not occur in the life of someone whose "Christian" belief is not in accordance with the truth of God's word.

JW's refuse to worship Jesus Christ, in spite of the clear teaching in John 5:23 that the Father desires the Son to be honoured (Gr. "timao" - to prize, to fix a valuation upon) JUST AS HE IS HONOURED. How is the Father honoured ? He is WORSHIPPED, of course. Revelation 5:13 & 14 illustrates the SHARED worship which the Father AND THE SON receive in heaven.

In spite of their many protestations, JW's preach a false gospel of salvation-by-works. This is made clear from their own literature -

"But in God's due time, the dead that are ransomed by God will be raised to life.(John 5:28) Surely this knowledge should move us to WANT TO WIN GOD'S FAVOR. IF WE DO, even if we should die, we will be remembered by God and be brought back to life." (You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth, Page 80)

Contrast that quote with the following Bible verses, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not of yourselves; it is the GIFT of God; NOT OF WORKS THAT NO ONE SHOULD BOAST." (Ephesians 2:8 & 9, caps for emphasis)

Far from being witnesses of Jehovah, JW's (whether "anointed" or not) are actually under God's curse for preaching a "gospel" other than what was preached by the apostle Paul (Galatians 1:8 & 9). The heretical teaching that
people can enter into the sphere of God's grace & salvation through obedience to the false prophet of the Watchtower and their own human effort, ensures that there will be MANY tragic spiritual casualties on the day of judgement, regardless of how sincere they might be.

Jehovah's TRUE anointed witnesses are those who have been transformed FROM WITHIN by the power of God through faith in Christ crucified & resurrected, and being FREELY justified by faith (Romans 3:24 - 26), place no confidence in their own feeble efforts to please God in their own strength.
They are those who recognise Christ for who He really is - the First and the Last, the Alpha and the Omega - and worship Him in accordance with the will of the Father.

By the grace of God, I am one of Jehovah's anointed witnesses.

"But when the kindness and the love to man of our Savior God appeared, not out of works of righteousness which we did but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Spirit" Titus 3:5.

May God show grace and mercy to those deceived by the Watchtower.

Lillie, 2nd Peter 3:3 has nothing to do with anything that has happened in here.

The fact is that just as you misquoted this scripture, there are many others that the Church misuses. We know this because we read the context of the verse. Read the whole section of scripture, not just the verse. You will find that Paul's point was that in the last days there will be people laughing off Jesus' second coming. Saying look all is as it was.

I pray for the JW's. See there is something obvious of the JW's, and that is that they desire truth. But indeed God is Truth and Love, and lacking the latter you have fallen from Grace, trying to provide work for salvation. Indeed Your church is Luke Warm, Rev 3:16 on.

You make God equal to the Angels, you make man equal to God. These are tempests in the wind.

2Pe 2:17 These are wells without water, clouds[2] carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.

Why on earth would any of the anointed class be witnessing on this website?
You ask alot of questions relating to Jehovahs Witnesses on this site. Why dont you do yourself a favour and go to a kingdom hall and ask your questions there.Or is it that you just enjoy the ridicule incorporated in the responses you get and dont really care one way or another to learn the truth?(2Pet.3:3)

I've always wondered about this as well. From what I've heard, it's something they know in their heart, but that doesn't quite answer the question for me.
